A combination of Egyptian flavor into death metal gave a birth of Nile, not the infamous Egypt River but an US death metal band. ‘Annihilation Of The Wicked’ is 2 time more wicked than ‘In Their Darkened Shrines’ although they have toned down the use of Egyptian sounds but they can’t be separate & never will be separate. Nile covers anything from a technically attack to the old-school death metal in this album. The CD starts with a long title but short acoustic intro ‘Dusk Fall Upon The Temple Of The Serpent On The Mount Of Sunrise’, I though it was long enough but then when I read the title of the sixth song-gosh!! The title contained 18 words but I won’t write it here just to make this review longer. It’s close with the last track with a very typical Nile sound; doom, slow & monumental riffs. This is Nile & I believe none of their followers will set aside this album in fact it’s a good beginning for new listeners. www.relapse.com
