FUNERAL INCEPTION (Indonesia)

How are you there Funeral Inception (FI) and what's going on there? What's happen to FI since the departure of mithos and how about him now? Anything new from FI?

Well, we have been very busy trying to find a perfect replacement for Mithos. It’s a big loss for Funeral Inception, coz he writes so many tunes and very technical and very cool songs. He is now very busy with his own study, as it reaches it’s final stage of it. Now we have found replacement for Pandi, the drummer of Corporation Of Bleeding named Aloy. We asked him if he is able to help us to move on. For now, we are just three piece. The present line up : Doni – Voc & Bass, Rio – guitars and Aloy – Drums.

I think the departure of Mithos really make trouble to FI & it's also effected to the 2nd strike of FI and it has to be postponed, isn't it? So after this ,who will handle the bass position?

Yap, the 2nd strike to the divine dictatorship has to be postponed, but I am sure it will have more strength after we got replacement, coz we want this upcoming album has more energy and power to deliver more than the debut album. It’s not necessary to find a replacement for the bass position, as Rio is taking responsibilities for writing the songs. The things we need is to get a new fresh technical insane drummer. That’s all. Just wait for the 2nd strike….DEATH FUCKIN’ METAL THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!

Talking about the upcoming 2nd album by FI, how many songs have been or will arrange into it & how about the recording process, when it will start?

We will put about 8 or 10 songs in it. Before the departure of Mithos, we have about 8 songs already. But he didn’t have enough time to record all the songs, so now the available and ready songs only 4 songs. We will put more energy, money and attention for the recording, as we want a far differences from the debut album from the sound to the whole productions. It might be started at September or October 2003. I just don’t have a clue yet.

How about the concept of this album, do you still maintain the concept in the anthems of disenchantment ? If I compare of it & the debut, what's the different between them, is there any changing or improvement?

The main concept is still the same, trying to make mankind realize how low is their degrees compared to all animals, and how all religions have been fool mankind, and make your sense and logic in isolated rooms. The difference is, this time the sounds will far more better, the vocal patterns will be better, also with the productions. We will always trying to bring a new fresh improvement for the whole music of FUNERAL FUCKIN’ INCEPTION.

Can you tell me deeply about this forthcoming album, what will make it so special?

The only thing I can tell you is, this album will make you realize, how religion impact the way you think rationally, your senses. Musically, this forthcoming album will have a very deep touch of Suffocation and other US style brutal death metal.

This album is yet untitled, but you've list two option of it, ‘Countdown To Apocalypse’ and ‘Electric Chair For God’, this two titles sound very weird, what does they mean? You got another option right, what is it?

Yeah, we haven’t decided the title yet, coz we are trying to give the best shot to the forthcoming blasphemies. It sounds weird? Yap, you are damn right! Both titles mean that the domination of religions and divine deception will soon be end, as mankind realize how stupid to live in a religious ways..…. Just be true to yourself, be one with nature …. Put away your greed !!

How long the time it take to finish the entire process of this album, when it will schedule to release?

We estimate the entire process will take about 2 or 3 weeks, depends on how much money we invested for the recording. But mainly, we want to fit the schedule with the money, that’s all. It has to be released at least this end of year 2003. Coz I want a productive band, at least one album a year.

I've been noticed that this album will no longer release under Warpath Records anymore, so under which label it will be released? Why FI didn't stay with warpath anymore, any problem with them?

Where do you get that news? It will be released under Warpath for about 5 years to come according to the contract deal. But it might be re-released by other labels in different region for regional releases. As here in Indonesia, we re-release it in tape version, coz CD is not so popular here, and we wanted the metalheads in Indonesia have an easy way to grab our debut album. Warpath gave the permission for re-release stuff. We don’t have any problem with them at all, they supported us very well. They sent a big amount of promos worldwide, and this help us a lot to be known more. We haven’t decided yet which labels will release our next strike, but some labels are in contact with us. I can’t name them, but they are truly a sick US and European extreme metal labels.

How about the last deal with warpath, actually how the relationship between warpath got started?

Well, actually the deal came for the next album of Bloody Gore after the re-release of Stench of Your Perversion which released by Fetal Tampon Disease Records, USA. But the 2nd album entitled Blood Driven Vehemence had been signed by Uxicon Records, Belgium. In the mean time, we had been discussed about the end of Bloody Gore and the re-incarnation of FUNERAL INCEPTION as Sony (Drums) had to leave the band and the replacement for his was Pandi. So we told Warpath about all these stuff, and they said it’s OK, just sign the deal, no matter you guys wear the monicker of Bloody Gore or Funeral Inception. I think Warpath is crazy enough to sign a new born band like us, coz I think they don’t have any clue how our music will go and grow.

The anthems of disenchantment debut got rave reviews world wide even in USA & Europe, are you satisfied with it or you deserve more than that?

We receive a tons of good reviews from worldwide, also some critics about our music. And then, we got inspired by the critics and we are now trying to prove, our music can change into a mature way. So far we are satisfied with the results, though it would be greater if we can have an enough time in the studio so we can develop the sounds.

Until today, what's the latest progression of the debut? How was the sales and also the feedback?

Warpath sent so many promos to all media and radios, and it has a very good distribution worlwide too. I don’t know about the sales point, but they will send some moneys from the sales to us. This is the first time we receive money from labels, as they also sent some copies of the debut album.

The band started by the name Bloody Gore before it disbanded, then two of you decided to form a new band and it was Funeral Inception today. Was FI just the continue band to Bloody Gore? What's the main reason of Bloody Gore disbanded?

Yap, FI is the continue of Bloody Gore with all fresh ideas, themes, musical directions, techniques, and lyrics. Bloody Gore had to meet it’s own demise as we wanted all new fresh things about the band, as we have another technical and powerful drummer named Pandi. So we thought it would be far better if we use another fresh monicker, and left the name Bloody Gore within the coffin.

Actually, what were the differences between FI and Bloody Gore, what separate both of them?

The main different things are musical directions and some musicianship. Bloody Gore depends on the blasting drums, low guttural vocs, gore lyrics. Funeral Inceptions is far more technical, very complex song writing, technical drumming, and growl instead of low guttural vocs, the lyrics are about dissapointment and how sucks this life, blasphemies, divine deception, etc…

Have any of you know where the ex-members of the old Bloody Gore now, Ipank, Feby, Sony & Ewien?

Ipank married couple years a go and have to live his family so he went to get some full daily job. Sony is now trying to get a full daily job to make his own living, Ewien is still playing in some local metal bands, but I don’t even have a clue about Feby now.

What's your opinion about your Indonesia metal scene, since you've evolved in the scene, what do you think about the progression there? If i compare of it since the early years you knew about it & now, what will you say?

Indonesian metal scene has a big progression since its birth. Now you can some Indonesian metal bands in European extreme metal labels, such as SIKSA KUBUR, ABSOLUTE DEFIANCE (aka VILE), KEKAL, JASAD, TOTAL RUSAK. Now the eyes of world metal scene is opened to Indonesian sick metal scene. Even a label in France, Infernal Waves, compiled Indonesian Brutal Death Metal/Gore Grind bands and put them all in a CD entitled “Indonesian Gore Compilation” and will be distributed worldwide. This is a big progession I think, compared to other Asian metal scene. Also you can find different styles of metal here, such as Gothic, Doom, Black Metal. Thousands of bands are ready to strike your ears in gigs which commonly held in week end. Also you can get easily Indonesian metal bands’ tape in new born distros and labels here. I am so happy to see it in this way.

Since you've survived in Indonesia, what's the best band ever did you knew came out from there? Comment about them!

The best bands, in my opinion, are KEKAL, SIKSAKUBUR, ABSOLUTE DEFIANCE, TOTAL RUSAK, CRUSADE, HELL GODS, TOTAL TRAGEDY, RESTLESS, DREAMER, ASPHYXIATE. Need comments about them? Just check it out by yourself man, you will agree, they are great !!!

What do you think about Impiety, they have already released their 3rd album, Kaos Kommand 696 under Osmose Production. Have you ever listen to them and did you gone to their tour in Indonesia on last 30 march in Bandung? Comment…
Yap, another prove of South East Asian Metal forces getting more attention from the world is Impiety signed triple album with Osmose. Absolutely, this is one of biggest hits for the asian metal scene. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it, but I have read some reviews about it, it looks very cool release. Impiety postponed their tour here, I don’t know why. I always go to the gig which flyers tell Impiety would appear and play. But they were never show up, except when they play in Jogja couple years a go.

What do you think about the bands and scene in Malaysia? Which is the best bands did you know came out from here? Anything you want to add about us?

Malaysia is slowly growing for Brutal Death, am I right? You guys love mainly Black Metal and other melodic stuff. But you guys have a great zines and webzines there, also a big amount of records. I like Vociferation Eternity so much. I also know some bands from your homeland too, such as Spermblast, Argon, Mantak, Necrotic Chaos. But I think sooner or later, you guys will be infected by brutaldeath plague …. Ha ha ha !
