| My Interview with Fallon bowman of Amphibious assault Deathbolt-Recently i got the pleasure of conversing with the imfamous Fallon Bowman previously from kittie and she was nice enoph to lend me some of her time to talk abut her new project. (is that ok?) Fallon-I like how i'm infamous. that's awesome. Deathbolt-So can you tell all our readers out there about this new project you have been working on of recent? Fallon-Well, Amphibious Assault is my little baby that I have been work on for the past year. It was birthed Last August 2000 while on the plane to New Jersey to visit a friend. I've always wanted to do an electronic project, because I have always loved dance music even before I discovered metal. Its basically me doing all programming and singing and such. The name doesn't really have a meaning per se, its really just something I read in a Marine Corps book. Its a military tactic of sorts and I thought it sounded pretty tough! I'm a military buff, what can you do. Deathbolt-Is it going to be on a major record label or is it going to be indipendant? Fallon-Well I'm hoping to shop this one around to bigger labels and get signed, but it will be released really on my own label, Social Unrest Records. Deathbolt-Is there anyone else involved Fallon-With the composition of songs it was all me. I think I wanted to see if I could do it all myself and still write good stuff. Yet live I will have a full band helping me out. Its gonna be awesome. Deathbolt-What inspired the move from metal to techno? Fallon-I despise the word techno but that, really is what it sounds like. I prefer "electronic music." As I mentioned before, I have always wanted to do an electronic project, and I've loved dance music even before I discovered metal. So it seemed natural to me to do that move, since I think metal and I aren't on good terms. Deathbolt-Will there be much of the Guitar work that people normally associet with you involved in the Upcomming CD? Fallon-Oh indeed so, I have written some guitar work for a couple of the songs, yet its not going to be heavy chuggy riffs but it will be good I assure you. Its early Skinny Puppy that I have been listening to coupled with Slayer, I think it will be cool. Deathbolt-So far how have your die-hard fans been taking this transition? Fallon-Some have been incredibly open minded, its really refreshing to know that their are people out there willing to open an ear to a new sound. Yet there have been some that are totally not into it, which is fine, some of them were civil and said, you know, "good luck with your endeavours, but I don't like it." yet others were down right rude. Everyone has their own way of expressing themselves, I surmise. Deathbolt-I have noticed there are already a few amphibious assault sites up and more and more of the fallon kittie fansites making mention of your new site, that must be a rush knowing alot of your fans still fallow your correer after what 2 years now? Fallon-Oh, most definitely! It blows my mind that they are still going strong and interested at all in what I'm doing, I'm just a stupid teenager with an electronic band! Yet its very flattering and refreshing to know that these loyal and beautiful people exist, I'm in debt to them. Deathbolt-When you were in kittie there was alot of the media an metalheads that were stuck on the fact you were females doing what normally males only do, do you think you will have the simular problem in this new genre? Fallon-I'm not sure it will be that big of a problem, with Switchblade Symphony doing really well in this genre. I think that there is a little more open mindedness involved with this genre which makes things a lot easier on me! Deathbolt-I herd there is a possibility that you will be trouing with prodigy in the near future, can we hope this is more then just lore? Fallon-I think that was misconstrued, That was one of my dream tours was to tour with Prodigy or VNV Nation. Yet I think it would be amazing to tour with them, they are both big influences on me! Hopefully it will be a reality one day. Deathbolt-Well id like to finish this interview with the question of purplexsion i am compelled to ask all rockstars and the like, Out of all the interviews you have done what is the question that you have eather never been asked or would like more attention drawn too? Fallon-Wow, that's a great question. I think people ask more questions that I don't want to answer then I want to answer! I would like in interviews that they stay away from my past endeavours and focus on the present. A lot of them say its hard cause that was such a big part of my career and what I am 'famous' for so its frustrating, I don't want to have to talk about it ever again. Fallon-Thank you Well id like to thank Fallon for her patients, and taking time out of her pre-production to answer my questions. You can find more information and media files at www.aassault.com |
