The Dying Person
Near Death Awareness

back

According to the book, Final Gifts, there is a "Near Death Awareness" or a special knowledge of the dying process.  These include the following:

400.gif (1005 bytes) "Where's the map?"
The dying often use a travel metaphor to alert those around them that it is time for them to die.

400.gif (1005 bytes) "I'm getting ready to leave."
The dying person knows that they are dying.

400.gif (1005 bytes) "I'm not alone."
The dying person often tells of the presence of someone not alive.

400.gif (1005 bytes) "I see where I'm going."
The dying person will briefly describe a place no one else can see...usually in a couple of sentences.

400.gif (1005 bytes) "It will be when..."
Dying people often seem to know when their death will occur,  sometimes right down to the day or hour.
