Onward March

Over mountain
Under hill
On our way
Just as we will
Through forests old
Ravines anew
On journey towards
What we must do

Light is fading
From the sky
Soon shall darkness
Rule on high
Should we let
The ring to fall
Bring shadowed hands
Despair to all

So traipse we forward
Onward march
Though stomachs growl
And mouths are parched
To bring the ending
Of the ring
And turn Gondor to
Her rightful king

AUTHOR'S NOTES: I was rereading the first book (I got through the first book and part of the second in sixth grade, so I’ve forgotten a lot of the details and such) when I was inspired by the various poems, a.k.a. walking songs and whatever else they were called, to write this. I didn’t spend much time on it; I just kind of got this sudden inspiration and jotted it all down right away. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it.
