From on the phone, to talking to a sales clerk at a store, to casual conversation in everyday life, communication is key. Without it, understanding is difficult, and thus so becomes learning. Most of the jobs out there require constant speaking, and if one wants to succeed than the skills of speech must be practiced and mastered for all audiences. This year I had many distinct opportunities to practice our speaking skills, one of which was in European History. It was a project of topic-based research which my group (consisting of myself, Brock, Alex, and Ralph) compiled into a video. The topic was The Green Revolution. It was somewhat of a semester-long assignments, in that everyone one got and had their oral presentations assigned on a specific date. (we had 3-5 each Monday) I learned how to better speak when under the scrutiny of a witness- which was, in this case, a camera. This was quite an exciting experience in that I did first real video presentation. In the future, I'll practice a little more, just to get it a little bit better and appeal to the audience a tad more. This proves my mastery of the ESLR because it shows that I am, through this video, am now experienced in creating an oral presentation. |
