MAD RAMBLINGS IN GREECE
STOP! Share with me my last few hours in Athens, Greece so the adventure is on its last day...

i spent the last two week in greece...here is a quick recap of what i remember...i am writing this from an
internet cafe in athens...so forgive the spelling and the rambling.... i am under financial and time pressure...my flight to milan leaves in one hour...and i still have no clue which bus to catch to the airport....but i am inspired to write and i must follow my mind.

ATHENS
some people say smog, dirt and traffic take over the city...but what i saw dominate was history... a mythic city formed thousands of years ago-towering walls of marble, limestone and craggy rocks... everynight people enjoying life with frappes (ice cold frothy coffees), on patios with lively greek musicians playing their hearts out and tourists looking over the city from the Acropolis weeping from the beauty of a manmade heaven.  the metro is fast, efficient... the original olympic stadium is a feat to the hands of man....huge marble slabs put together into a stadium of toothpaste white.

DELPHI
got off the ferry from ios after a 8 hour night journey ..arrived in athens...caught two buses, and i
was on my way to delphi to go see the oracle and find more hints of my wayward future...  I fell asleep....I was awoken in a small city somewhere in the middle of greece.  I had slept through the stop to Ios and slept the rest of the bus ride.  I had no money, no one understood english in the town and there was no ATMs.... I was f****ed    i toured the town, walked to the next town, miraculously my visa card worked and i headed back to delphi.  arrived in delphi...

the secret behind the oracle and the prophecies came not from the noxious fumes that the old ladies smelled or the leaves they ate.... it came from the scenery.  The sight was almost too much to behold....overlooking the valley of the olive kings, the navel of the earth, the center of the feta heaven!   Visited the Temple of Apollo and ran around the stadium made over 2 thousand years ago.  Talked to the great sphinx and chatted to the Chariots....  Herakles says hi and theseus danced with the minotaur.

SANTORINI
Natural Beauty at its finest...
The black sands, the volcano that blew away the lost city of atlantis...also the view from the cliffs of Fira with its white houses, churches, the deep blue agean sea and the winding city streets.  Lost in deep glee with a bottle of greek mythos beer and chatting with my best friend from canada made this place heaven.

IOS
no sleep until leaving IOS....but the rest is a myth. Ios is about relaxation, floating in the sea water of the agean, playing water sports, beach volleyball burning the soles of your feet, beautiful women and men from around the world, swedish highschool parties, and a mix of sun, sand, baked bread and warm tzsaiki sauce (sp?)  Here is everyday in Ios

Wake up at 8....tan...volleyball tourney, float in water, float in pool, float in sea, eat, sink in pool, talk to new arrivals, invite, say bye to people leaving... watch movie with beer from 8-10...jump on the party bus up to the "MAIN SQUARE"  drink, talk, drink oozo with the local OZZO man...whose pores are ooozing with OOZO, dance in one of the 52 bars,  dance more, dance harder, harder, harder....collapse and build up the dancing to a new cresendo (part of the backpackers workout routine)... then visit the late night eats....walk down through the slippery rocks, dance on the beach, fall in the sea, watch the shooting stars, practice your singing, poetry and constellation watching, as well as your greek mythology with some palm reading, some screaming, many smiles....then drag yourself back to the hostel to sleep another 3 hours... before the ROUTINE begins again...
