I woke up covered in blood...
It all started the night before. I was attending the usual student party here... crowded, smoky, people in
various stages of undress, and too many people who exceeded their recommended monthly intake of alcohol
by 1am. I decided to leave the party for a few minutes to get some fresh air. While I was outside a
girl I heard a crash behind me. A drunken girl had slipped and fallen on to the sidewalk behind me. She
was screaming in pain.... As I looked closer I noticed that she had fallen, smashed the beer bottle she was
carrying and the jagged edge had made a huge gash on her neck. Blood was covering the sidewalk and
squirting out everywhere.
Everyone was standing around....I stood in shock for a few seconds...and then my fight or flight system kicked in...I ran inside and told the bouncer to call for an ambulance. Then I came outside...and once again everyone was standing there watching this girl bleed. I don�t know if I did the right thing but I got beside her and
covered her neck and tried to put pressure on the wound. Blood was squirting everywhere as I put my hand
on her neck. My white shirt, my jeans, my shoes were covered in blood by the time the ambulance arrived.
Afterwards I was interview ed by the police....they thought someone had attacked her with a beer bottle.
I told them what happened and later I found out that the girl was in hospital doing fine. Crazy Vienna...A
girl attacked by her own beer bottle!
