HEMOSPERMIA, or blood in the ejaculate, is not an uncommon finding in middle aged men. It is usually a self-limited event, but it depends on the cause.
Usually, the blood is caused by an inflammation or irritation of either the seminal vesicles or the prostate. And usually this is a benign condition which will clear on its own. It can also result from only slightly nastier things such as polyps (out-pouchings of tissue) along the tract to the outside, or from prostate cancer (not quite so benign). Most of the time it's cause isn't clear and it goes away on its own.
All this to say you should visit your family doc for an examination of the above pictured anatomy. It's not such a bad examination, takes about 5 minutes and will give you both enough information to know how to proceed.
