While it may be true that "mortar
and brick doth a house make", it takes much more to make that
house into a home.
Here are some tips to makeYOUR
home something
really special

 |
Household tip # 6 - If your
friends tend to be rowdy and you can't really trust them, entertain in the
backyard. That way you can lock up the house and enjoy yourself. Arrange
with a neighbour for the use of his or her bathroom in case of a real emergency.
Remember to think up an excuse why your house is locked BEFORE your guests
arrive because as a host you're going to be busy, and it can sometimes be
difficult to come up with a good lie on short notice when you have a lot
on your mind. |

Tips for the Home Renovator
Tip# 345- Screwdrivers come in different shapes and sizes. Try to find
one that more or less fits the screw that you're trying to put in or remove.
Tip# 657- Remember this if you're putting in a door: The size of the
door corresponds proportionally to the size of the doorway where it's
going to go.
Tip#987- (you may have to do some mesuring for this one) When you're
nailing two boards together, the nail must be longer than the first board
is thick.

Household tip # 36 - Most
North Americans are grossly overweight. Don't compound the problem by giving
visiters to your home food of any kind, unless they are from Europe. Of
course, Europeans drink far too much so don't give them dry snacks or they
may get thirsty. |

Household Tip # 231- No cleaning job is
ever too important that it can't be put off till tomorrow, next week or
even next year. Remember, your home is your castle. Do you think those castles
were cleaned on a regular basis? |
|
| Household Tip # 161- Newspaper
makes a lovely and economical tablecloth. And reading it can also keep you
and your guests entertained when you're not quite up to being the energetic
and fascinating host that everyone seems to expect you to be. Tape a few
sheets together for bigger tables and remember, it's good for one evening
only! |
|
| Household Tip# 126 - Don't
use dish washing liquid, it's hard on your hands and can leave a soapy film
on your dishes. And then you have to rinse and rinse with hot water which
is really wasteful. Besides, water is such a precious resource, why not
be good to our planet and try something different? Those dishes will come
out sparkling clean with some ordinary sand or even just plain old dirt
from the backyard and a little " elbow grease." Save our planet
and save youself a couple of bucks in the bargain. |
