Dean Rishel was Artistic Director of the Greater South Jersey Chorus (1992-1000) and has conducted frequently with the Princeton Opera. Rishel sang professionally for some years and has served on the Board of Directors of both the South Jersey Cultural Society and the Princeton Opera.
Prior to his 2003 retirement from public school, Rishel twice received the New Jersey Governor's "Teacher Recognition Award" and participated in the "New Jersey Star School and Best Practices" program. Other awards include the "Applause Award for Music" from the Markeim Art Center of Haddonfield, New Jersey, and the "Distinguished Graduate Award" from Plymough-Whitemarsh High School.
Mr. Rishel now teaches part time at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA, and continues his composing and arranging. He also maintains a small voice and conducting studio in his home in Eastampton, NJ, where he lives with his wife, Leslie, a Medical Writer. Their 2 daughters, Emily and Lillian, are graduates of Mason Gross School of the Arts (2003) and Rutgers University, (2004) respectively.
