European Explorers Presentation
1. Identify the country that financed the explorer’s voyage. (It might not be their native country) Include the year the explorer started his first expedition
2. Identify the intended location of the explorer’s expedition (Where was the explorer trying to go?).
3. Explain the basic goals of the expedition. (What was the explorer trying to accomplish on his expedition? What was his motivation?)
4. Identify any significant stops on the explorer’s route.
5. Did the explorer accomplish goals? Explain.
6. What is your explorer actually known for?
7. Describes the impact that the explorer had on the native population (Did he have a friendly encounter or did he conquer the natives?)
8. Explain how the explorer’s expedition(s) influenced later explorers.
9. Explains how the investor (King, Queen, Joint Stock Company) of the voyage benefited from the exploration. (What did the person paying for the journey gain because of the colonies founded after the explorer’s journey?)
10. Explains
the long-term effect of the explorer’s encounters. (What happened as a result
of the conquering or colonization that occurred after his explration?).
*Locate the explorer’s first route on a map and
trace it on the student made map.

will be used for the class restaurant and all the meals combined will make the
menu)
Plan a meal using the following guidelines: * NOTE - 80 % of the ingredients should come from this
web page.
You will be responsible for labeling a student made
map.
You will create symbols representing the ingredients
in your meal and glue the symbols on the map indicating the origin of the foods
used.

E. Dessert
Locate the region where this food originated. (Be as specific as possible; do you know the
actual country the food is from? or just the continent? or you may only know
which hemisphere it is from)
Provide a complete history of at least one of the
ingredients in your meal.

continent?

What
events were taking place when this food was introduced to another continent?
*Extra credit: Prepare a dish from your meal and bring it in on the day
of presentations.
