| The phellysian marriage system is monogamous. A simple outdoor ceremony with friends and family is common. Before the marriage ritual, or if a phellysian does not engage in the ritual, mating with multiple partners is socially acceptable. The phellysian are unique in their marital beliefs: once two phellysians mate, it is forever. This union transcends even death. If death occurs, a phellysian will not take a second mate. Divorce is an extreme rarity, but has occurred. The two simply part ways. The female always keeps the children. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The phellysians believe that each soul is a part of the Cat Lords Oversoul. When one phellysian dies, another is born somewhere in the world. This continuous cycle of rebirth into the Oversoul will continue until the day when the Cat Lord comes for his children. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| No organized laws or political system exists. Each tribe is ruled by an elderket, the oldest and wisest phellysian, and a council of elders. All members are bound to the tribe by honor. No law enforcement is needed. Those who rarely transgress tradition are dealt with by the Council. Customs are traditions are passed down primarily orally. Each clan has may villages within and the clan is ruled by a council made up of all village elderkets. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Most creation myths state that the phellysians were once one race but were split into nine. According to legend, in the far future, the Cat Lord will gather his children, reunite them into one race and allow them to ascend with him into a higher realm. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Social stratification is minimal. All phellysians are considered equal. The only variation is that each phellysian is judged on the basis of age, experience and skills. Therefore, elders and masters of a craft command much respect | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Ceremonies are common and vary from tribe to tribe. Once each year there is a large gathering held in which many tribes gather. This gathering, called Verral, is held by a different house each year. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Phellysian names consist of three parts: tribal name, personal name and house name. Each phellysian also chooses a secret name when coming of age. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| A number of tribes in the area encompassed by the Everclear River in Talis, convened not long ago to discuss public relations with other countries and to argue their options with allies should relations with the Bathyns finally break into all out war. It was determined that there was a need to expand more positive relations to other countries and that they should send a diplomatic contingent to seek out such allies as they can. Representatives were chosen from the tribes, and they set out to head north - going eastward first to avoid the Bathyns - and to find support for their cause. Rath and Nyah were chosen, for Rath is the eldest son of the second Elderket and Nyah his wife. Several youth were sent along, because they were young and eager to learn the ways of foreigners. Among them, Naroo, a cocky cheetah lad that just wouldn't take no for an answer; and Sophilia, a cautious ocelot who tends to use her claws faster than her mouth.. They travelled, a party of roughly a dozen, for weeks across Talis headed to Kalimura (will get the name right when the Khoras site is up again), then north.. to wherever they may end up. |

| Talisian Goods and Gear Frontpack 3gp 2lb Hammock 1gp 2lb Special Substances Virgin Herb/ Black Root 10 gp - Descriptions: Ripper ~ A small triple bladed weapon cruelly shaped like splayed claws each claw jutting from between the fingers of a closed fist. Often enchanted or ritualistically blessed. Used when claws would be dishonorable or disadvantageous. (Counts as an unarmed strike when wielded by a Phellysian skilled in this manuver.) Broad Spear ~ A wide headed spear with an extra heavy blade. Long and serrated, the head can be used in a wide slashing arc or a thrusting jab. Front heavy and akward it is a Exotic weapon to any race other than the Phellysians. Throwing Wedge ~ A crescent shaped, heavy blade with a dull inner edge used for throwing at foes. Flung singly, in pairs, or in groups of three the Throwing Crescent or wedge is much like the human shuriken though slightly heavier. The spinning motion of it in flight leaves long slashing wounds in it's victims. These are often poisoned when employed against the Bathyns. Heavy Sickle ~ A heavier, thicker version of the farming tool, this wickedly curved blade resembles a giant claw. Used primarily for combat the sharp curving edge and wicked point leaves gruesome wounds when it connects solidly. Staff Sling ~ A sturdy wooden staff with a leather sling on the end; when twirled by an expert user the staff sling can propel a fist sized stone twice as far as a regular sling can propel its ammunition which is only half the staffs size. However reloading the staff sling is a move equivilant action. The rapid reload feat applies. Bolas ~ Bolas are commonly employed by the Phellysians. In their paws they are considered martial. Phellysian whip blade ~ Similar to half of a spiked chain in general appearance the Whip blade is a long blade broken up into segments connected with chain. Used much like a whip or a spiked chain it leaves slashing wounds and can be used to trip foes up to 10 feet away. It has reach of 10 feet and can also attack foes 5 feet away as well. This weapon is affected by weapon finesse. Leaf Armor ~ Is a sturdy, light armor resembling scale mail superficially. Though extremely lighter it does not impede the feline physique as m uch nor does it overheat the wearer. The non metal armor is also acceptable wear for druids. Leaf Shield ~ A tower shield made from a giant leaf. This shield is much lighter and is translucent. The light leaf allows much more nimble evasion but does occupy an entire arm. Frontpacks are specially designed back packs that are worn on the front for ease of travel while on all fours. Virgin Herb causes temporary sterility when used as a tea and drunk by a female. The duration of sterility varied from race to race but lasts one cycle of heat for a Phellysian. Black root causes male sterility when chewed whole. Possessing a hearty flavour similar to anize this tough root is often chewed for relaxation by the less "civil" races such as the Bathyns. |
