Donington Park: August 1999 |
|
|
|
Donington has to be in my opinion, one of the best circuits in the country and plays host to such races as the British GP, World Superbikes and British Superbikes each year. This is a very fast, physical track with some great scenary, not that you really take much notice when you are out there?
It really is an experience to ride on the same tarmac that has seen such racers as Mick Doohan, Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz burn rubber and ride absolutely flat out.
I don't think that there is a single corner at Donington that I dislike, they are all awsome in their own way. Take Copice for example, this blind right hander can be blisteringly fast when taken just right. With your knee dragging all the way around and then shifting your arse back into the center of the saddle for the long drag down the hill to Goddards.
Another brilliant series of corners is the notorious Craner Curves, this is very downhill and sweeps left and right before the Old Hairpin at the bottom. If you have the balls, it is possible to ride pretty much flat out through the curves and the G-force that is generated on your bike is tremendous! |

Craner Curves: Open the throttle as wide as you dare, then haul the bike through the left hander. |

Goddards: Got my knee slider caught in the rumble strip here, new underwear please? |

Redgate Corner: This double apex can catch you out, hold it tight and leave the brakes well alone. |
