Theme: Spiders/Scarecrows Next week we learn all about spiders and scarecrows. We will describe them and talk about how they are helpful to us. Letter: Ss Next week we will study the letter Ss with Sammy Snake. Please help your child to name the capital and lowercase letter, write the capital and lowercase letter, tell the sound of the letter and identify pictures that start with the letter. Math: We will continue sorting objects by color, by size, by shape, and anything else that we can think of. We will also continue making and extending patterns with AB, ABB, AAB, ABC, AABB. Number: 9 Next week we will be learning the number 9. Your child should be able to recognize from a flash card the numbers 0-10, be able to count objects and tell how many (up to 10), be able to match dots to numbers 0-10, and after next week be able to write the numbers 0-9. Fall Party: We did not receive all of the money for the fall party. If you did not send money for your child please send it Monday to reimburse for the things that were purchased for the party. Book It: Thank you to those that participated in Book It for the month of October: Haley, Shiloh, Abram, Angela, Dakota, Robbie, Jenna, Josh. Enjoy your free pizza. If you didn�t participate in October you have another chance this month. New papers are coming home today for November. You can even use trade books as some of your books! Workday: Tuesday, November 4th is Election Day and there will be no school for kids on this day. Tuesday, November, 11th is Veterans Day and there will be no school on this day. Trade Books: Trade books will be coming home Monday and Tuesday next week. Please check the back of your child�s folder to see what days their books and reports are due. Remember I will only read with them on their assigned days. |

| Book Fair:
Our fall book fair will be open next week, Nov. 3rd-7th. A flyer came home yesterday with more information. The book fair will be open during parent conferences so that would be a great time to visit with your child. Scholastic Book Orders: Book orders for November are due Monday. I will be placing our class order and expect it back within 2 weeks. This is a great way to begin buying Christmas presents for a discounted price and help our class out at the same time. There will be a December order coming home soon that will be back before Christmas break. If we do not have at least $20 ordered for November I will have to combine the November and December orders and wait a few more weeks before I order b/c there is a shipping charge for orders less than $20 from each catalog. End of 9 weeks: Don�t forget parent conferences are Monday and Thursday. I sent a revised schedule home yesterday. If you did not sign up I assigned you a time and am sending it home today. Please make sure to attend and pick up your child�s report card. Field Trip: Our next field trip will be to the Catawba Science Center in Hickory. We will be going on Friday, November 21st. Information about times and money as well as permission slips will be coming home today or Monday. You can go ahead and mark your calendar and start putting back money so that you will be prepared. The cost will be less than $10. Flash Cards: I am ready to send home site word and number word flash cards to add to the color words. Please make sure your child�s color words are in their folder on Monday so that I can add the site words and number words. You may begin working with your child on these new words now or you may wait and do a few a week as we do them in class. It�s up to you how you study at home but remember each child must know all of their words by the end of the year. If they learn all of their Kindergarten words I will send them 1st grade words to get started on. Hat Day: PTO will sponsor a Hat Day on Fri, Nov 21st. Bring $.50 and wear your hat all day. Thanksgiving Break: Thanksgiving break will be Wednesday-Friday, November 26th-28th. There will be no school on these days.
