Back In The Day

As a special feature of sorts for The Uni Video, I decided to make a sort of found footage film (having been inspired from seeing such things on my film course that past year). I went through all the old footage I had recorded when I first got my camera and animated sequences I had filmed in 2000.

The footage consisted of a series of experiments with exposures, effects and shots as well as serial killer skits I had filmed with the guy I made Night of the Living Ted with. Finally, I also included a whole host of experiments with animation I had done, ranging from manipulating an artists pose-able hand and figure to an elaborate scene I had been working on. This scene was a rendition of Rhodes demise in George A. Romeros Day of the Dead. I constructed a series of wire skeletons with wooden feet before making plasticine bodies (filled with plasticine guts). I also created a corridor set which I lit in a similar way to how I had lit The Evil Ted. The actual finished animation, which was heavily influenced by the style of editing used in Kubricks A Clockwork Orange, was of course, very bloody the entire set basically being drenched in red paint in the process. I enjoyed making this short animation so much that I made another one where the Rhodes model shoots a zombie. And how did I animate his gun firing? Well, I made a cardboard muzzle flash which I pinned to the gun and every time a shot was fired, that frame had a flash of torchlight!

But back to Back In The Day, this 10 minute short film was again edited using the REC/PAUSE process and was set against a series of songs by the Misfits added in the same way I had added music on The Uni Video.
Grrr!!! I'm a zhombee!!!
Some early animation using my old toy cars...awww...
Grrr!!! Me behind the mask!!!
I don't like to get political...but I'll make an exception...
