MURDERDOLLS
&
STONE SOUR
I'm flicking through 'Kerrang!' in my local HMV (yeah I know I'm a cheapskate but I like to read before I buy) and I see Tripp Eisen's face among four other very good looking guys (who were wearing the colours of my bedroom and the majority of my wardrobe). So I read on and discover he is in a new band (side project from Static-X) called the 'Murderdolls', formely known as 'The Rejects'.
So, there's this band called 'Slipknot' who putting it nicely, just aren't my thing (minus people=shit which is an admitedly good song). And, as I continue reading the article I find out that the fellow guitarist of Tripp, is Joey Jordison of Slipknot. From this I was put off from listening to the Murderdolls for a long while purely because I thought they would sound a little like Slipknot. Eventually I came to my senses and realized that I can't judge a band on their past ventures. And when I found that the vocal talents of Wednesday 13 were to be used I thought I really should give them a go. The first time I heard 'From the Valley of the Murderdolls', I was like...'Fuck me this is naff.' But,  the second time (while looking at the inlay) it was more like...'Fuck me...no really!' And from that moment on I was a fan of the Murderdolls.
Well, Joey Jordison's different styles intrigued me greatly, so when I heard about StomeSour (Slipknot's Corey Taylor and Jim Root's side project) I wondered if I was going to be as surprised as I was with Joey. and I fucking was.
It seems strange to people that the Murderdolls and StoneSour are on my 'favourite bands list' and Slipknot are on my 'most disliked bands' list. But to me, it now makes perfect sense.
