Junta cover

Junta was the beginning of Phish as we know it. Being the first released studio recording by them, it came out in 1988. However, they were hard to find at first because they could only be obtained at live shows or by mail order. However, Elektra Records resolved that problem by re-releasing it on CD in 1992.
When first recorded at Euphoria Studios in Revere, Massachusetts, the band worked for three days straight to make a demo. Recorders, engineers, and other employees were heard to say, "It was just incredible."* That span was the first of two recording sessions to finally produce "Junta." Before the re-release, Phish tried playing with an interactive CD-ROM, but scratched that idea because the technology was not too popular just yet.
When re-released in 1992, the album featured the following songs:
  • ON DISC ONE --> Fee, You Enjoy Myself, Esther, Golgi Apparatus, Foam, Dinner and a Movie, The Divided Sky, and David Bowie.
  • ON DISC TWO --> Fluffhead > Fluff's Travels, Contact, Union Federal, Sanity, and Icculus.
