The Timeline
The story occurs roughly about 3 weeks into the crisis.
The situation is very serious on a national and international level. Locally it is also serious,
perhaps even at critical levels. The National Guard has moved into most major cities in an attempt
to stabilize the situation. Martial Law has been declared in most major cities as well. People are
getting mixed messages - which is the standard in times of chaos. On a national level, people
are being told to go to rescue stations. However, this system is faulty because the Federal
government hasn't been able to keep up with the demand for rescue stations, nor the manpower to
defend them, stock them with food and supplies, etc. On a local level, the message gets mixed -
some cities and counties are saying get to a rescue station, others are saying stay at home, secure
your home, board up your doors and windows, etc. Police and civil authorities have tried to maintain
rescue stations away from the more dangerous areas, but within the last week, many of these rescue
stations have been closed down due to overpopulation or zombie hordes.
