| A Fathers Day Poem A poem dedicated to my step father. By J. Estelle Newlin |

| I never really took the time, To try and get to know you. I never really took the time, To tell you how much I love you. It was so very hard when I was younger, To open up and let you in. How I wish I would have done it sooner, And let you become the father to me that you are. I love the way you treat my mother, You are her world and her heart. You light her skies, & chase away all thunder, She loves you more than words can say that is clear to me. You always did the right thing with us kids, You taught us how good life could be, You were more a father to us than we ever would need, Even through all the tough times we had. You brought sense to a world full of contradictions, You gave us strength when our world came crashing down, You gave us love when we were sad, You brought our worlds whole all around. You treated us equal; at least that is my opinion, Even though we were hellions at times. Even when we acted out worst, You loved us and read between the lines. If there ever was a better Daddy, I would really like to meet him. But then again I take it back, Because all I have to do is look across the room to see him. (Copyright J. Estelle Newlin) |
