Clark Cox was a reporter and editor on weekly and small daily newspapers for 40 years. He lastly was a senior writer for The Pilot, a thrice-weekly paper in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Cox, a native of Jefferson, N.C., grew up in the North Carolina mountains and was a Morehead scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He resided in Rockingham, N.C., with his wife, Helen, and two children, Candice and Tom.
He won numerous awards in newspaper work and local history. He has written or edited two books of local history, a book of family history, a published short story that has been adapted for television, and two plays that were produced by local companies. He was a Kentucky Colonel and had been a deacon in his church.
