A little information on my MIDIs: I am a complete amateur. I have only very basic musical knowledge. I never seem to finish my MIDIs. They sound really bad when moved from computer to computer because my MIDIs are composed for a SBLive! configuration. This page is devoted to what MIDIs I've managed to produce despite that. Listen to a few MIDIs, and if you don't like them, then leave. If you like them, listen to some more. Whatever you think of my MIDIs, send constructive comments here
I'm also looking for people to make links to this site so I can pull in more sucke... I mean traffic. I'll be happy to do a link exchange with almost anyone who asks. (No pornography however) And don't forget to sign my guestbook so I know you've been here. :) Finally, I'm planning to expand this website, so make a calendar date and come back in a couple of weeks, and you'll find... whatever I've decided to stick on this.
Alright, here's the first MIDI. Its called Never Stop Dreaming and it is inspired by a picture by a girl known online as "Lailaith". Find Never Stop Dreaming and more of her work here. The reason I've named this MIDI properly is simply because the picture I based it on already has a name. I'm soon going to post an mp3 file of this MIDI too, once I download a recording utility to do it. This MIDI has a very dreamy feel about it, with a progressive buildup, and since I am still working on this one, I intend to make it minor for a short while, before reverting back to the main theme, and finishing, before i run out of steam.
Never Stop Dreaming
Next up is one of my favourite MIDIs of old. At one point I was attempting to create an amateur computer RPG with a few friends, and like most things, it fell through. However, I've kept some of the musical ideas from it. This is, at about a minute, the longest one I kept. The game MIDIs are all really quite old. This MIDI is in places a little atonal, but mostly its just good old fashioned minor key fun. I had very little knowledge of MIDI instruments when I did this, so I just lumped in whatever seemed right.
Battle Theme
This MIDI is another from the game. Its called bad guy, which is fairly self-explanatory. It didn't go very far at all, which is a great disappoint to me, but I'm intrinsically lazy, so I've never worked up the effort to try and take it any further. This MIDI is minor, sort of slow, and has a progressive buildup feel about it. Its quite sinister for one of mine

This MIDI is supposed to be for a forest in the game. Its pretty boring, and I did it so long ago I have no comments to make...
forest
For going into a town/village in the game. See forest
Town Day
This is the last MIDI from the game. It was for the "airship" of the game (can you tell we were making a Final Fantasy clone?) and I pretty much dug myself into a musical corner with this MIDI, and I'm not too good at getting myself out of those. Still, its quite fun, and one of my lightest MIDI. Its all high, with no dragging bass, and a fast drum beat
Hello
distortionguitar is probably the most acclaimed MIDI of mine amongst my friends and family. Not sure why, but it does have some good steady fun in it. BTW, I'm not a drummer in any way, so the drums in this are pretty silly. If you can ignore that I think the rest of the MIDI is quite good. As another side-note, this MIDI used to be a little longer, but I deleted the end of it because it didn't work well enough. This MIDI is fast and fun, but in a minor key

!! Good Grief! A MIDI that I finished! Its not fantastic, but its complete, and so that makes it worth a look in my opinion. The ending doesn't sound great, but then I've had so little practise... This MIDI is minor, slow, and is sort of plaintive.
Song
Here's the only other MIDI that i finished. Like the one above, its not very cleverly named, but then, I've never really been skilled with words. :) This MIDI is slightly older than song above, and it sounds it.
Tune
This is the only MIDI that is actually self-performed. All the others I have tweaked with my synthesizer's abilities so it sounds on the beat, with good dynamics. This one required a little less rigidity. Unfortunately, due to the time delay between hitting the keyboard and hearing the sound on the computer, the MIDI does not sound very well timed. This MIDI is minor, slow, and much like everything else on this page:). Its only piano playing though
A Dream Without Wings
The next three MIDIs are all much of a muchness. They sound very similar, and all use a lot of synth sounds to achieve their effects. All minor, varying speeds.

CHANER
Paypopup. I named this MIDI after a pop up advert that appeared whilst I was first composing it. Basically the idea of this MIDI is its supposed to be an overture to nothing, and to that effect it is constantly changing speed, tonality, and theme. The only thing that remains constant are the key and the instruments used in this MIDI. Unfortunately I never got further than starting the third theme. Ah well, another project I might take up at some point. I quite like the vibraphone part in the second theme. Its fun

This is the last MIDI. Its quite a different MIDI than the others, so once again its quite unfortunate I never took it far. It has a very bluesy feel to it, and for some reason reminds me of the background music in Theme Hospital.

And there you have it - my MIDIs. Once again, send your feedback to [email protected]. And if you can tell me the secret of finishing a tune, I'll be more than happy to dedicate a full sized 5 minute MIDI to you. :)
By the way, this isn't the extent of all my composing - I do some piano work that hasn't been put in MIDI format too.
