MOVIES

Below is a guide to a select few movies we feel best demonstrate an end-world enviroment. Also, illustrated in the selection of cinema below are examples of the problem solving, critical thinking, and team work that would best help one to rise above the fall of humanity. Our advice is to rent or purchase all of these fine flciks and take notes.
DAWN OF THE DEAD (REMAKE)

This highly debated remake establishes zombies as fast paced, ferocious hunters, and highly animalistic in their attacks on the remaining humanity. Some argue that the theory of the undead being hastey in movement is completely irrational. This being said due to the dilapidation in bone and muscular structure. Still, all re-animation arguments aside, the setting lands us amongst the throes of a post-apocalyptic mall once again. This time minus the biker gang. Here we see the intricacies of team work and survival prep take place. Some of the best scenes to take a mental note of are the modification of public transportation vehicles, and the use of everyday tools (crowbar, chainsaw, ect.) as zombie dropping weapons.
DAWN OF THE DEAD

One of the most classic post-apocalypitc zombie movies to date. Set in the early stages of a high level zombie infestation this movie follows three heroic characters who struggle to find some sort of solstice in a world slowly being swallowed by the undead. Eventually, a sanctium is found with in the confines of a mall. But,the calm can only last so long, and before our characters can truly settle in their stronghold is breeched by both the living and the dead.
DAY OF THE DEAD

Sequel to dawn of the dead. The weakest point of this film is that 90% of it takes place in an undergound army barracks and research facility. Here a party of survivors matching the same sex and ethnicity as those in Dawn of the Dead struggle to survive amongst power hungry soldiers, and the unyielding zombie menace right outside their door. Meanwhile, a lone scientist experiments with the dead seeing how long their humanity and past life memories linger. All these plots collide into a semi-climatic ending involving, revenge, zombie hordes, and the highly uneeded use of oversaturating the film with curse words.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (REMAKE)

Definately an amazing commentary on mankind and its loss of humanity and fight for hope in times of chaos and strife. Night of the living dead gives us a well defined outlook on the early starts of an undead breakout emerging on the country side. Unlike other zombie flicks Night of the living dead sets us up for the suburban version of zombie infestation. Here, a few haphazard characters stumble upon each while caught up in their own individually hopeless situation
THE DAY AFTER

A real account of how a nuclear strike against red, white and blue would really go down. Nobody is a hero, and nobody escapes the wrath of an atomic bomb. In this movie we watch as all power is lost, all civiliztion falls apart, and the main characters dilapidate before our eyes. Losing teeth, hair, and skin, these are the true effects of a nuclear attack
MAD MAX
The first in a wonderful series of post-nuclear survival. Strangely enough in the first of the series life is pretty untainted by the apocalypse. Sure people live in shithole apartments and houses, but everyone still has electricity, food and water is abundant and some poeple even still run mom and pop ice cream shops. The only thing that has dilapidated is law enforcement as gangs of brutal road warriors terrorize town after town. eventually this motely crew of heathens ambles into Max's town. This of course turns Max mad. And, well...I'm sure you can figure out what happens when the story's main hero gets ferociously mad at the main antagonists.

MAD MAX: BEYOND THUNDERDOME
The last and final of this series (although, there have been rumors of newer addition to the series directed by mel gibson himself). Beyond Thunderdome gives us a look at the possibility of survivors finding new sources of fuel. In this movie in particular we see methane being given off from a pig farm as a qualifying source. Aside from that we see the possibility of the regression to primitive tribes, and the devestation of cities that once stood proud.

A BOY AND HIS DOG
A somewhat comical yet dark movie about a post-apocalyptic duo made up of a boy and his psychicly linked sheep dog. Although, a bit outlandish as far as scripts go, the movie revovles around them scavanging to survive in a surface world filled with plight and desolation. It also portrays the possibility of literal "underground" societies which have stayed out of the nuclear wasteland that earth has become.
