Dead Angelica Version 20 *-* You Ripped My Heart Out Of Me, Then You Put It Back

Skunkboy 2 - Chapter 1: A New Beginning

   Susie's POV
Another city, another country. I don't think I'll get used to this as long as I live.

And so much has happened since... well, almost half a year ago, when GC last came to England and played in the Mean Fiddler. They've upgraded to the Astoria now, for a start; and secondly it's summer now. I had my birthday in April, so I'm a year older.

I'm watching Paul from the sides, almost all of my energy taken up by just staring at him, the way he moves, his face twisted in concentration. I'm hidden in the curtain, yet he still manages to twist round and flash me quick smiles every so often.

Ginger sneaks up behind me and pinches my waist. I jump, making the curtain flutter; then turn around to give her a mock death-glare. She laughs and hugs me.

Ginger is in an all-girl band named the Halo Friendlies. She's also been going out with Benji for the past few months, which is good for me as it means he has finally stopped puppy-dog eyeing me. And he is also off that antidepressant shit they put him on. God knows that was a nightmare, I kept having to find him some while we were in random countries.

"He's beautiful, isn't he?" Ginger sighs.

"Who? The security guard?" I joke.

Ginger rolls her eyes at me. "No, Benji, silly!"

"I believe the term is 'benjiful'," I correct her.

On stage, Benji points vaguely in our direction and makes some remark to the crowd about how he'd love to go out with any one of the Halo Friendlies girls. Ginger smiles. "If only they knew, huh?"

   If only Ginger knew.

   Paul's POV
I don't feel complete without her anymore. Before, no matter what was going on in my life, I could always forget it onstage, in the lights and the cheers and the bass notes resonating from my guitar.

Now, though, everything relates back to her; she is the center of my universe, and I barely notice anyone else. There is only Susie and the way she laughs, the way sunlight brings out the gold streaks in her hair, the way she sings off-key on purpose to annoy us all... and, especially, the way she loves me too. I'm so wrapped up in her, I can't notice anything or anyone else. I don't notice the season changing or even what city we're in... all I can care about is her.

Author's Note: Aha! That was the first chapter, you'll have to wait a bit for more. It will mostly be fluff, just so you know.
