Chapter 05


The storm broke over Benji and Billy as they were driving home, lightning streaking the sky. As they neared the house, however, they saw another flash- an ambulance was sitting on the side of the road.

"Car accident, probably," said Billy. Benji nodded his agreement.

"It doesn't look good. Normally, I'd stop and see if we could help, but... Let's just get home."

Suddenly Benji grabbed his left wrist and began to drive at breakneck speed.

"B-Benj?" Billy stuttered.

"Joel's in trouble, or something," came the terse statement.

"How do you know?"

"I just do!"

They reached the house. "Stay in here, I have a feeling we're gonna need the van," ordered Benji. Billy nodded, feeling puzzled. Benji ran up and pulled open the door of the house. Billy heard him swear loudly as he saw the shocking sight.
