                                                                  Hispanic Vs. Black

What is Hispanic?  My nephew was born in Barcelona Spain and is considered a Spanish citizen.  The people of Spain call themselves Spanish and do not consider themselve Hispanic.  Hispanic is a term used to describe those Africans and the Natives that were conquered by the Spaniards.
I heard radio personalities talk about Blacks and Hispanics as if they were two different people but they are similar. Spain, Portugal and southern Italy were conquered in the time of 711A.D by Black-a-Moors.  These Black-a-Moors were Africans from the Northern region and they were considered to be the most fierce of all Muslim warriors.  The Moors were so well known for their ability in battle that they were recruited throughout Europe.  Even William Shakespere could not resist writing  about a Moor in Othello.   Despite their victories and their accomplishments in Europe such as introducing castles, universities, bath houses and libraries the Spaniards hated the Moors. When the Spaniards forced the Moors out of Spain they enslaved many of them.  Moors invented the compass and were used as navigators during the voyage of Christopher Columbus and used as guides for the exploration of the New World. Everywhere the Spaniards ventured, the Moors were with them in their travels.  Wherever the Spanish and the moors ventured, they impacted the indigenous people of those areas.  Locations such as the Philippines, South America, Central America, Mexico, Puerto Rico,  Cuba, as well as other locations all have dark skinned, black straight or curly haired people. Many historians attempt to hide the identies of moors by calling them Arabs due to their conversion to Islam.

My gripe with the terms "Hispanic and  Latino" is that they hide the racial identity of the people they encompass.  In the so-called "Latin "countries, people are segregated by race or color so why mask their identity?  Not only are the people being misrepresented by these vague and empty terms but on their birth certificates they are classified as White.  This issue means that the census is incorrect when the government states  that blacks only represent 12 percent of the population.  I believe that the purpose of this is to weaken the voting power of people of color by forming faux differences and focusing on the language barrier. When asked about racial identity these people of color will state their nationality instead of race.  They will tell you "I am Cuban, Puerto Rican, South American, Mexican and this is a problematic issue because they know that they are being manipulated by the system but they enjoy it. They want to live in society as being classified as "White" but they will never be accepted as white by actual whites.  When whites speak different languages the issue of race is never a factor.  It doesn't matter what part of the world they live or what language they happen to speak, white is classified as white.  Why does nationality become so important when it pertains to people of color?  Why is it necessary to separate people of color by language and pad the numbers of whites?
