The fact that Congress was brought into this fray shows the abuse of power exhibited by the current administration. When the local courts didnt give them the outcome they wanted they cursed them and went over their heads. Someone got it right because a family matter remained a family matter despite the bullying of President Bush, Governor Bush, The media, and the Right to Life activist. American citizens have the right to deal with personal issues without interference of government. This is one of the principles of which our country was founded. Freedom from government control is what we pride ourselves and other countries envy. To allow this characteristic to be taken away would make us no better than the Communist that we despised years ago. On a small scale Terri Schiavo died by starvation and wasnt made to suffer, but on a large scale freedom of choice and rights of the individual was championed. The small scale lingerer will say that she should have been saved and that government should have done something, but they are those that do not cherish the freedoms of our great country. I say great country because America and what it represents is great. The elected officials that take office and misuse their authority given by the people dim the light of freedom and makes our country difficult to distinguish from oppressive regimes.
It was sad to hear that Terri Schiavo passed but it was not my decision nor was it my family. The media demonized Micheal Schiavo and judged him publicly for his personal life. This is the method of the Bush republican party. Smear and mis-characterize is what they do to those that oppose their agenda or opinion. lets hold our noses as we go through the next four years and hope that we come out unscathed.
