With all of the above taken into consideration Americans still do not bear the responsibility for the welfare of Mexicos citizenry. Our tax dollars go for healthcare, education and jailing Mexicans that cross our borders. We cannot properly take care of our own citizen so how are we to care for illegals that have no loyalty to our country. Not only do our tax dollars benfit illegals but when they obtain employment in our country they send money earned to Mexico. robbing Americans of their tax dollars and taking dollars out of the American economy does nothing but keep Mexico as a welfare state. One would think that Mr. Fox would thank Americans forproviding such benefits but instead he requests that we open our borders to allow more Mexicans to steal from us. Many mexicans come to America to commit crimes such as car theft, drugs sales, medicare fraud and even murder. I can hear the deaf and cluless saying "Well Americans do the same thing" But let us deal with our criminals not criminals from another country. Mexicans commit crimes and then escape to Mexico to avoid prosecution through our borders that are unprotected. The Bush Administration talks of Homeland Security but leaves our borders open for any and all threats. I wounder if Mr. Bush really wanted an answer when he asked Americans if they felt safer or if it was a rhetorical question? I tend to think it was the latter, because if leaving borders undermanned and under-funded is supposed to make us safer coupled with scheduled security alerts by Tom Ridge then he has failed at securing us.
One reason the Administration and its predecessors have failed at securing the borders is because of the mexican population that exists in our country. Politicians see these illegals and legal Mexicans as potential voters and want to shore up support from this segment while compromising the country economically and with security. Legal Mexican aid illegals into the country and and harbor sentiments of a debt that Amrica owes Mexico. Many Mexicans believe that the western states belong to Mexico and that it is their right to occupy these states.
I propose that we arm our border patrols with the military just as Mexico does its southern borders to keep out the peoples of Central America. We should treat illegals just as invaders and shoot on site. If foriegners want to come to America they should follow the process set in place for legal entry. Those caught aiding illegals into the country should be kicked out as well. If we really love this country we should protect it and should not let the thought of cheap fruits and vegetables cloud our judgement.
