Drunks that drive kill hundreds of people world-wide. I think people are willing to take the chance of being caught or getting into accidents while intoxicated because the punishment isn't severe enough. In my opinoin drunken driving should be taken with the same seriousness as murder. When an individual makes the conscious effort to go out to a public bar and drink past their limit they should pay the legal cost. The drunk driver usually comes out of an accident unscathed leaving in his wake families to mourn the loss of a loved one. The drunk driver should be the one that suffers in my opinion. If a driver has an accident and is found to be drunk, the driver should be charged with attempted murder. If a driver is involved in an accident and kills the motorist involved, then the drunk driver should be charged with murder. Individuals in America need to become more responsible for there actions and the courts should make those irresponsible citizens responsible for their careless acts that affect others. |
