| I met Paul on a trip to Scotland, summer 1998. We married in July 2001. I wore a Tartan scarf on my wedding day with pride, have you ever seen a Swiss-Canadian woman like me wear one? The word 'tartan' is derived from the French 'tiretaine' which described a type of material, not a specific colour or pattern. It is not, as some have tried to claim, of Gaelic derivation; the Gaelic for tartan is, and has always been, 'breacan'. |
