PROJECT

CANOE RESTORATION

This last month(September 1998), I went up to Oregon and brought my Uncle's old wood-canvas canoe back with me. I plan to restore it to its original glory. It's a 17' Chestnut Prospector for those of you familiar with canoes. Built in Canada probably around the 50's or 60's. Pictures of this boat will be posted periodically for those who would like to follow my restoration. The canvas and the outer gunwales are shot and need to be replaced. Some of the planking near the stern and bow also has rotted out and needs replacing. As I dive deeper into this project, I will post more details.

Since, I know Uncle Martin and Auntie Diane will be checking this page. I will write you guys a little note! Thanks for the canoe and letting me hang out at your place. Also, thanks for putting up with me for all those years when I was younger. I had a great time in Oregon and will never forget the great times we had rafting, canoeing, sailing, WORKING! Thanks again!
