South Shore Quests
South Shore Quests was formed in 1998 to encourage exploration of the outdoors through the use of clue- directed walks through local public lands and parks.  Questing is an ideal activity for small groups and families, as well as individuals.  By turning a walk into a treasure hunt, children often race ahead of their parents instead of lagging behind!

For a given Quest, participants use the map and directions found in the Quest booklet to follow hidden clues to a treasure box.  The box contains a small guest book, a stamp pad, a rubber stamp, and answers to questions asked by curious "Questers".  Once the box is found, participants stamp the back page of the Quest booklet (as proof of accomplishment), and write or stamp in the guest book to record having finished the Quest.

After you have successfully completed 10 Quests, you are eligible to receive a South Shore Quests Patch.

South Shore Quests booklets are available at Bookport in Hingham Square, The South Shore Natural Science Center gift shop in Norwell on Jacobs Lane, and Hingham Public Library. They are $6.00.

The Questing season is from April 15th to November 15th.  We also offer a few winter quests.

South Shore Quests is sponsored by the WEIR RIVER WATERSHED ASSOCIATION.
In 2004, South Shore Quests was adopted by the Weir River Watershed Association.  A watershed is the area of land that catches rain or snow and drains into a marsh, stream, river, lake, or groundwater.  Watersheds connect communities.  All of the South Shore Quests are located in watersheds and some in the Weir River Watershed.
