Your breath mists before your eyes On the cold and moonlit night The whistling wind blows through your hair You turn and wonder who could be there Your footsteos crunch upon the snow Though you know not where you go Through the trees your shadow creeps Not even the birds dare make a peep The birch trees shine in the soft moonlight All your warm clothes can't keep out the bite Of winter wind so mournful and strong It keeps you company as you move along When in the distance you hear a cry Followed by thier brothers nigh Your breath comes faster in clouds of white You wonder if you'll live out the night When upon a hilltop you spy them near The moonlight shines upon the deer The pack is fed thier hunger sated Your quickened heartbeat soon abated You steal away into the night Always to remember the gruesome sight Then in the distance your homestead looms You make your way to the fire lit rooms Where in your bed you lie awake And think about your lucky fate You curl up next to your sleeping spouse And whisper softly as a mouse I'm home again safe this night I love you dear good night Sleep tight.
