| We struggle through the day, Fighting for each minute gained, Trying to make our way in this world, Struggling to make our wings unfurl, Like a butterfly emerging form it's cocoon, So we start, from the womb. At first our struggles aren't that hard, Learning to walk, to talk, to read, But then we grow, with increasing speed, To make it on our own, Our parent's work is done, We go to college, to work, Start a marriage, have children. And there the struggle starts anew, A new life, held at your breast, The promise of a future unknown, Unknow but for the strggles ahead. Dawn Schultz 2002 |
