| MIGUEL "BOTAFOGO" VILANOVA (CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE) Performances and Tours (continued) Botafogo in Australia: 2001 - Botafogo traveled to Australia, 6 shows, with a Japanese band. 2002 - invited by guitar player Wolfy Prock - they performed 4 concerts. Botafogo in Latin America: 2001 - in Porto Alegre, Brazil, at the Natu Blues Festival 2001 - in Uruguay, with Deacon Jones, at the Jazz & Blues Festival 2001 - in Chile, 2 shows, plus the opening act for Eric Clapton in Santiago�s Stadium. 2002-2003 - performed in The House of Rock & Blues, from Vi�a del Mar y Santiago and Valdivia. Botafogo in Argentina: - he has been touring during all these years, in almost all cities, almost 100 shows per year. 2000 - with Bruce Ewan, a 9-date tour. 2001 - with Deacon Jones, 13-date tour, C�rdoba, Rosario, Mendoza, Santa Fe, Neuquen, etc. 2002 - a 12-date tour that included Patagoina and Tierra Del Fuego Botafogo teaches privately guitar, composition and harmony in the specialty of Blues and Rock. He has been professor at the Instituto Tecnol�gico de M�sica Contempor�nea (ITMC) - representative of "MI" of the USA). He is constantly giving "clinics" in Buenos Aires and in Argentine provincial music teaching centres and universities. He has written six methods for guitar teaching, edited by Ricordi - "Seis Cuerdas", "Seis cuerdas de Blues", "M�s Blues", "Armon�a para seis cuerdas", "Bajo Blues" and "La banda y yo", which are being sold in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Per�, Spain and other hispanic-speaking countries. Furthermore, he writes articles for various specialized magazines. He is preparing two new teaching methods: "Acoustic Blues Guitar" and "Study of Scales". Botafogo was chosen to give the musical "flashes" in the TV program "Duro de Acostar", one of the most popular TV shows in Argentina. He also conducted, during two years, a TV program, "Cl�nica 21". In 1995, Gibson presented him with a Gibson 135 guitar to honor his performance. Botafogo is endorser of Fender guitars and amplifiers for Todom�sica, in Argentina, and Wesley Guitars in Australia. Since 2000, Botafogo has been the conductor of "Cabecitas Negras" ("Black heads"), a radio program on FM Supernova 96.7, every Sunday morning, where he plays blues music. In the end of this century, Miguel Botafogo was distinguished by the Argentine newspaper "Clarin" as the best solo artist in the field of jazz and Blues. This distinction arrived after 30 years of a career and is the response to Botafogo�s professional, ethical and humane compromise in an activity which represents a way of life.
