| "BLUES WITH A FEELING 2004" ARNOLD'S - MOHAWK COLLEGE - MAY 15, 2004 (CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE) |
| John Dickie was featured on surfboard, I mean mandolin, on a particularly enchanting country-flavoured ballad, whose title I missed, and ex-Powerhouser Glenn Higgins, recently gone solo, provided essential saxophone work. The climax was a still-exciting Oh, What a Feeling (What a Rush), their ever-popular funky heart-stopper, which was immediately followed by a stunning recording of Richard Newell singing Lord, pity us all, which brought tears to many audience members. In order to pump up the bursary coffer, there was a wide array of CDs, T-shirts and other memorabilia for sale, but the nicest touch was the carefully preserved pictorial exhibition of King Biscuit Boys musical life, placed at the entrance of the room. Mr. Newell may not have been a saint to everyone, but the hundreds in attendance here sure thought so. For more information on Richard Newell (a.k.a. King Biscuit Boy), visit Guitar Mikey's KBB website: www.kingbiscuitboy.com. |
