Jack de Keyzer has entered Toronto's Liquid Studio this month to begin recording his fourth CD. The record features Jack's rhythm section, Alec Fraser (bass) and Tony Ajo (drums). Additional players will be Michael Fonfara (organ, piano), David Rotundo (harp), Perry White (tenor sax) and Sab (rhythm guitar) . The CD is very guitar-oriented and his most blues record to date. The songs cover everything from '30s solo Delta Blues (Six String Lover), to '40s jump (Jump Right To It - co-penned with John Mars), early '50s Chicago blues (If You Were My Woman), '50s party blues (Your Pleasure Is My Business), '60s rhythm & blues (Funk This), '70s blues (Soul Lover), '80s rockin' blues (King Of The Blues, Rock 'Til We Drop) and, of course, the present, as de Keyzer has penned all the tunes. A song writing tour-de force, as well as an excellent outlet for de Keyzer's virtuoso guitar stylings, look for a very timely funk blues tune called "The Answer". The CD is produced by Jack and Alec Fraser (who received a Maple Blues Nomination for "Producer of the Year" for their last collaboration ("Down in the Groove" ). Shane Scott of Bassline Studios will co-engineer the sessions along with Alec. The CD will be called "Six String Lover". Just in the final mixing stages, de Keyzer is shooting for a December 2001 release date, providing the Britney/BackStreets don't have all the pressing plants tied up. |
