Just before checking out The Rio's "Originals Showcase", I decided to check out Dylan Wickens at his usual Tuesday night gig across the street [Black Swan -Danforth Avenue].  With his EXPLOSIVE Stratocaster-playing technique, Dylan rarely seems to have any trouble attracting jammers to join with him, even more so now, without his "special guest" jammers.  On this particular night, Grant Lyle decided to try his luck on the drum kit, replacing John Bouvette for a couple of tunes, after a mysterious foray on guitar went awry.  (I hate it when people start telling me a story and then leave me "hanging" for the rest of it!)  Grant mentioned having a bit of trouble with the "shuffle" beat, which is apparently quite difficult to master, but seems effortless for someone like John!

Brent Kehoe, Dylan's main sidekick, on bass guitar, was in top form as usual.  That was an amazing (dare I say "miraculous"?) recovery from an accident that was deemed to be career-challenging!

On tenor saxophone through most of the set was
Flip Townson, who has played with The Fabulous Nobodies, Lost Boys, and Beautiful 2000, opening for Sloan and Grapes of Wrath.

Damon Hines performed a decent version of Billy Preston's "Will It Go Round in Circles" (a la guitar rather than keyboards) at the end of the evening.

Unfortunately I didn't catch the names of the male and female jammers on lead guitar and harmonica, respectively, on Hank Williams' "Move It On Over", but they both sounded great!
