Jackie excels on scat vocals, especially on the Gershwin brothers' "Lady Be Good" and "Singin' in the Rain", where Ken trades in his guitar for a piano. David Wall also joins in on harmony vocals on "Sweet Sue", "Walking Down the Line" (penned by Bob Dylan circa 1963) and the Duke Ellington collaboration, "Mood Indigo".
Ken's brother, Chris Whiteley, Amos Garrett and Jeff Healey (on guitar, not trumpet) also have cameo performances on the CD. Speaking of trumpets and other brass section instruments, you won't find any here, but they could certainly be incorporated into a fully-orchestrated version of this musically nostalgic masterpiece.
Incidentally, the copy of the CD I reviewed was autographed by the trio for Hamiltonian Iris Berryman, who was a dancer in an entertainment troupe with Jackie Washington during the war years. The troupe was documented in a tome called "The Hamilton Book", I believe.
