CD REVIEW
This powerhouse quartet of well-pedigreed musicians from the Pacific Northwest has pulled off one of the best live CDs I've heard in a long time!  Recorded at the Sunbanks Resort in Grand Coulee, Washington, on May 17, 2003, it's practically "hot" off the press.  By the way, there's an R&B festival taking place there this weekend, starting today, the 2nd anniversary of the 9-11 disaster in New York.

Although the audience feedback has been removed from the recording, I can just imagine the rapturous looks on the listeners' faces as they are getting blown away by not just a "wall of sound", but an entire roomful of it!  Chris Myers has done an excellent job on the recording and engineering of the CD, which was then mastered impeccably by Rick Fisher.  The seven extended tracks, ranging from six to nine minutes apiece, show the band getting into a full-fledged groove that might have seemed a bit daunting to lesser musicians as well as for any less-than-true blues/rock music fans!

With lead vocalist and blues-harpman Paul Green serving as the non-stop catalyst for these musical forces of nature, Straight Shot is comprised of blues all-stars Tim Sherman on electric guitar, Conrad Ormsby on drums, and bassist Howard Hooper, all of whom have achieved high-profile musical portfolios.  Green and Ormsby collaborated on "production", a term I find rather mystifying.
