Jessie Commisso
RotoNoto Music rcd-20158

by Marvin Tweeter

A very attractive brunette young lady, a puzzling project title, and an intrigue that made me want to listen ....... this release had three positive things happening before it reached my system.  Kudos to RotoNoto for a very pleasing packaging and designer Brent Hurley for capturing the essence of this very talented new artist.  This cd looks as good as it sounds, and that is brilliant.

Produced by Randall Cousins at Grant Ave Studio in Hamilton, Ontario and at Alleged Iguana Recorders in Brampton, it features a stellar cast supporting this young vibrant diva.  Mr. Cousins has a very unique style and approach to making music, quite evident here.  The Toronto-Hamilton music scene has been known for its wealth of talent, and this disc features some of the finest players north of Nashville.  Guitarist Mark LaForme has a number of releases on this label and his band is one of the hottest I have ever heard.  The supporting cast for Jessie includes Shelley Buffitt, Sean O'Grady, Neil Nickafor, Harry Paratestes, Jesse O'Brien, Steve Petrie and Bob Doidge.  These folks did all of this at the studio where TV star  "Red Green" records......you can't go wrong there.

Jessie Commisso, hails from a quaint nothern town in Ontario, Schreiber (thus the title, lol).  Vocally, her power and control are amazing for a 19 year old.  Such maturity in vocal renderings are rare, indeed, for a new artist and a debut release.  I understand there is major label interest from Nashville, but one only hopes they let Jessie be herself and not try to mold her into a Nashville package.  This young lady's vocals are refreshing and energizing as is, and she shines on this Indie release.

The opening track, "Hurt Before the Fall"   was released as a single, and showcases Jessie's unique style, and a killer guitar solo too, by Harry Paratestes.  Jessie wrote a beautiful ballad, "Sometimes",  all about love and hope and co-wrote a super rocker with Randall, "Run Away With Me".  I would runaway in a heartbeat, if she promised to sing to me everyday !  The song selection here is very good and the performance is top-notch all the way through.  Other notable highlights are "Sweet Passion", "Rosie's Diner" and "Heaven's There".

All in all, one of the best Indie releases my ears have had a chance to peruse in quite some time.  Ten very cool tracks and an added BONUS track surprise..... one of the wildest dance remixes you will ever hear.......Sweet Passion (10 minutes)

Thanks Jessie, I can't wait to hear your next presentation.
