| Werewolves are not so much a race of their own genetically speaking but more of a former human inflicted with a virus. They are classified as their own race however as they can be born werewolves. | ||||||||||
| Category: Dark creature Level: Major Danger: Between high and medium. Medium if having access and knowledge of temporary cures, high otherwise for all races. Physical strength: Between medium to delicate and from strong to weak. Physical strength does not vary from a human of the same size. Immunities: The vampiric virus, all minor demonic bites, all medium demonic bites while in wolf shape, some immunity to minor spells. Strengths: Ability to shapeshift; may do it freely at any time and without consequences except during the full moon when they are forced into their wolf-like state and turn into beasts. Weaknesses: Is forced to change into a wolf during the full moon upon which they lose control and thirst for blood, especially the blood of pregnant women and their unborn. This may be prevented if the werewolf consumes the wolfsbane plant during the day before the full moon and change on their own before the full moon rises. The werewolf must also stay in his or her wolfshape in order to avoid the curse. Silver in itself no more harmful to werewolves than to any other creature, however the elves possess charms which will alter silver and make it into a highly lethal weapon. The elven silver will have the same effect on the dark creature as the bite of the dark creature will have on the elves - once wounded it will spread quickly through the blood and lead to an extremely painful final couple of minutes before the dark creature dies. There is little usage of elven silver anymore as the races purposly lives separately. Especially Zion elves are weary of werewolves due to historical reasons. Magical power: From medium to none wordbased magical powers. Werewolves always possess the ability to shapeshift, but outside of that ability they are no more likely to be able to weild magic than the average human. Origin: Godmade - originally a curse. The goddess Ziva has the power to turn humans into werewolves. Expected age: Maximum 50, always lower than if the individual had been a human due to the stress the body goes through every full moon. Werewolves often age faster than humans after puberty, this is especially true for those werewolves who have no means to avoid the forced shift the full moon brings. Becoming: Werewolves are originally godmade, but may be both born and made. Only humans can become werewolves. Anyone bitten by another werewolf while it is in its wolf shape will suffer a 95% risk of becoming one. Old and very young individuals often die during the first change, even if it is voluntarily. Pregnant women will abort during the first change as well. One may also be born a werewolf, either because you are the seventh son of seven sons or because your father is a werewolf and your mother is some kind of a dark creature, though the later is rare. Born werewolves only begin to change with puberty, and has been able to be avoided in males by turning them into eunucks early on. Hybrids which display any real lycanthropic symptoms occur, but they are very rare. Creatures who may reproduce with them: Humans, lake kelpies (rare), shore kelpies (very rare), vampires (rare), some demons (rare), elves (extremely rare). Werewolves often have children with other races, humans mainly, often because they choose a partner of another race as they consider their state a curse - unlike the vampires. Female werewolves are not sterile, but they are unable to carry a child full-term due to the shapeshifting. Among the dark creatures they are however the most likely race to have offspring with humans. Appearance: Humanoid, can easily be mistaken for a human as they do not bear any obvious sign which betrays them. They do age faster and are forced to change at least once a month, but otherwise they would be able to live among humans without ever being discovered. Hybrids, advantages: A half werewolf rarely display any of the characteristics of a werewolf. The ones who do on the other hand are most often not forced to change during the full moon, and thus females have a chance of carrying a child full-term. Hybrids, disadvantages: Only the ones who are forced to obey the call of the moon are able to shape shift, some cannot control it at all and only change during the full moon. These individuals also run a risk of not having complete transformations, and ending up in a painful inbetween. Those who do not shift may experience an unexplained need to move around during full moon and the days around it. Acceptance in society: Relative, more often than not medium. They are considered to be something inbetween humans and demons. They do experience some discrimination, more so than vampires, but it is often dependent on the area and its history. They are considered to be less in control of their urges than vampires, especially during the full moon, and therefore are less trusted. They are on the other hand more likely to have children with humans than vampires are, possibly rather due to genetical reasons than society. Likely profession: More often than not they are fighters of some sort, or deal with herbs in one way or another. Eunucks are not rare either. Characters: Zev Procyon |
