| DDR Basic / Light -You are not penalized for hitting incorrect dance steps. You are only penalized for not hitting the correct dance steps. So, by doing this, position yourself in advance on the steps, to do complex dnace steps. -Avoid puttiong on foot back into the middle when playing. This just slows you down when doing fast songs. Keep your foot/feet on the arrow they are on, and do other steps with both feet. - Do not always look at the screen, piviot your body and move around, it will make steps easier. -PRACTICE, if you have DDR at home. If you only play at the arcade, get DDR Konamix first, and the pad. DDR K, is better for newbs. -At home, there are lesson and Training modes, use those to your advantage Since you have DDR at home -At home, there is edit mode, make hard songs easier and work your way up to that difficulty -Ask for tips from other DDR players at the arcade |
| Tips that are USEFUL from Standard-Heavy tips DDR Tips 2nd Mix! Ok, you've mastered the baisics, now your probably on Standard. Ok, here are more great tips: 1. I suggest downloading Stepmania www.stepmania.com Why you ask? Well, you can download any song as a dwi file. You can play the song (on the keyboard, unless you have a pad and PCPS2 converter) to get to know it better, and you can copy and paste the song into Winamp to listen to it when not playing it. If you know the song, you can get to know the beat. Where can you find DWI'S? Well, there's www.ddrstyling.it , downloads, DWI FILES, COURSES. and thats all that i know of. 2. Mods are your friend! If you want to try a song on a harder difficulty, go to options and put on "little." Little turns off all 8th and 16th notes and more. Know a song by heart but wanna try it harder? Put it on shuffle. It will shuffle the steps. Maybe increase the speed. Try it on 1.5x, 2x, 3x, up to 8x the speed! Or try a visual mod. Sudden, stealth, and more. There is dark mode that takes away the arrow outlines. Check your game or arcade for other mods. (Hint: to fully master a song on a difficulty in my opinion, you must be able to play it on Sudden and shuffle both.) 3. Don't be afraid to play singles! I know most people find this game a group activity to do with friends, but when your walkin in the mall and you hear B4U in the background, don't be afraid to play. 4.Don't be afraid to do a song you know you can't do. Usually you should do it last so you can maximize the time you have playing songs you enjoy and can do. 5. Don't be afraid of doubles! Choose an easy song on light, and give it a try. Sure, in some places it may be $2, but it's fun! 6. Even if there are no arrows, you might want to press a panel anyways, to keep the rythym flowing! 7. Sometimes, it's easier to pivot and shift your body weight then to move the whole body. 8. Wear comfortable shoes. Make sure your shoes are broken in before playing hard songs. And finally number 9. And I can't stress this enough!!! Play to HAVE FUN! That's the reason this is a game! To have fun! DDR Tips EXTREME! Advanced tips for advanced players. (Heavy) Ok, you've made it! You've conquered LGT and STD, now time to dance like a maniac! 1. In alot of songs, the arrows will NOT be going with the bass line... that 1... 2... 3... 4... that you can feel. It might be going to the melody. look at Twilight Zone as an example. 2. If you are playing for a long amount of time, you might want to bring an extra shirt. You WILL get sweaty. 3. Drink plenty of water. NOT Coke, NOT Orange juice, Water or Gatorade. You will get stomach cramps with soda. 4. If you've mastered alot of songs, I would suggest these 3 modes: Oni, Endless, and Nonstop Oni: You are given a battery life. 4 Goods, Bads, Boo, N.G. Almost, or misses, you outta there, man. There is a song list that you must do nonstop on different difficulties. There are many courses to choose from. every song you complete you get another life. This mode is SUPER HARD, hence the name oni, which in japenese means "devil" Nonstop: There are many courses, like oni, but you just have to pass the song. The songs range in difficulty. This is the easiest of all 3 modes. Endless: You do every song in the game. Every 5 songs it gives you a little break. This is the 2nd hardest, in my opnion, mode. 5. Enter a tourney. Ah, hears comes the part where you say,"I'm good, but I wanna see how I measure up against other players." Here we are, the tourney. A tournament will be 1, or both of these things: Tech/PA or freestyle Tech/PA = Techinical, or Perfect Attack: The object is to get more perfects that the other person playing. Sometimes, you will pick the songs, other times, you will be given a list of songs that you have to play. the list may or may not be in advance. Let's say the list comes out 2 weeks in advance. You're scrolling through the songs and you see BAM! Superstar heavy for PA. You're thinkin' I've never heard or played this song in my life! Remember when i told you to get Stepmainia? This is why. If you have a PS2/USB converter, plug it in, download the file and get practicin'! Freestyle: This is where Score doesn't matter as much, but you gotta put on a show. Do cool moves, techniques, spins, and such. Do moves so if you took away a DDR machine and replaced it with a dance floor, it would look good. For more Tips on these two, visit www.ddrfreak.com/tips/php 5. Help noobs(if ya want ; ) ) You learned from someone or out of curiosity, repay the favor to someone else. If your machine has joint play(all modes, single, double,vs. only one dollar or whatever it costs for one) when you play, ask some kid if he/she wants to learn. 6. My suggestion, you don't have to, is sign up on a message board and post! You will learn great things from there. http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/ is the best i've seen. From ddrfreak I've learned ALL the info on DDR Ultramix for the xbox. And 2 forum mods work at Konami hawaii so they got the board to put up for only one week a request songs thread for downloadable song packs for the xbox. |
