| X Decidedly more sinister than his predecessor Deep Throat, X loves the shadows. He rarely emerges clearly enough to be seen, and when he does he appears tense, edgy, paranoid. From the beginning he has said that he does not want to end up like Deep Throat, to whom he feels some loyalty, but not enough to get himself killed. On more than one occasion, he has refused to help Mulder or Scully. X has shown himself to be capable of cold-blooded murder in "One Breath," when he calmly executes an operative sent to steal a vial of Agent Scully's blood. In "End Game," he meets Dana Scully face to face when she asks for his help in finding Mulder. He flatly rebuffs her; Assistant Director Skinner fights him in an elevator to get them information. In that confrontation he tells Skinner he has killed men for lesser offenses than hitting him. In "Soft Light," he manipulates Mulder into revealing the whereabouts of a research scientist whose research X had been trying to get his hands on. X abducts the scientist, Dr. Banton, and turns him over to the very researchers Dr. Banton feared most. |
