Synopsis

This project involves the design and analysis of screw jack used for lifting a vehicle. In this project, we analyze the members of the screw jack in NASTRAN, PATRAN and Pro/E with Pro/Mechanica. The project is divided in three parts. And they are:

1.Design and analysis of the screw jack as a truss model (One dimensional model) using NASTRAN.
2.Design and analysis of the lower left link of the screw jack (as a plane model) using PATRAN.
3.Design and analysis of the lower left link of the screw jack (as a solid model) using Pro/E along with Pro/Mechanica.

We are analyzing the screw jack and its links for a force of 2000 lbs acting on the top link of the screw jack to replicate the loading conditions on an actual screw jack. We shall do this by determining the stress and displacement values at different points on the screw jack, upon loading, by the application of the above-mentioned design softwares. We have also compared the various results obtained from the analysis of the three softwares, to determine the best program for analyzing the screw jack.
