| Dear Volunteer: Welcome to Morenci School District # 18. On behalf of teachers, students, and administrative staff, we wish to thank you for offering to participate in the volunteer program. Our primary goal at Morenci Schools is to provide the best education possible for each of our students. We believe a strong partnership between educators, parents, and the community can help us reach this goal. As a volunteer, you are an important part of this partnership. We hope you will find your volunteer assignment interesting, challenging and personally rewarding. In addition to the valuable service you contribute, you'll learn more about our district and how it works to serve each student. Thank you for your interest. Sincerely, Morenci Schools Administration The major goal of the district volunteer program is to assist schools in providing the best possible education for each student. Services of volunteer are utilized in schools to accomplish the following objectives: *relieve teachers of various non-teaching tasks *provide teachers with more time to work with students *enrich curriculum and childrens's learning opportunities *promote a home-school-community partnership for quality education Parents will make up most of the volunteers, although anyone who cares about children and education are potential volunteers. *having good health and moral character *willing to accept supervision and responsibility *working well with students and faculty *recognizing well-educated children are our greatest natural resources VOLUNTEER DUTIES Morenci School District will offer a variety of volunteer responsiablities. Some duties provide volunteers with an opportunity to work directly with children, while other duties are available for those who perfer not working directly with students. Vlounteers choose duties that intrest them and decide how many hours and days they wish to contribute. SAMPLE OF DUTIES CLASSROOM INSTRUCTIONAL VOLUNTEER *assist and supervise students with projects and activities *work with small groups of students as directed by the teacher *help teacher prepare, distribute and collect various materials *correct papers CLASSROOM ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER Work under teacher direction in performing tasks such as *constructing bulletin boards, posters, learning centers *duplicating work sheets or other materials *typing classroom materials *other classroom preparation activities LIBRARY VOLUNTEER *repairing and shelving books *clerical work *preparing bulletin boards and displays HEALTH SERVICES VOLUNTEER *assist nurse with screening students *assist nurse with clerical duties FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING GUIDELINES, SUCH AS SUPERVISION, CONFIDENTIALITY, DISCIPLINE, DISMISSAL OF STUDENTS, DRESS AND BEHAVIOR, HEALTH, COMMITMENT, DEPENDABILITY, ETC...
