Chapter Twenty-Six

Accepting Hannah’s death had taken a while. As weeks passed and Lance was in the studio with his friends recording their first album, it got more tough. Sometimes Lance would refuse to eat, and sometimes he would even refuse to sing. It took them longer than they had expected to finish the final cuts for the album, but because they knew just how much Lance was hurting, they didn’t say anything. No matter how long the days were, or how many times they had to resing the same song because Lance would lose his focus, no one ever said anything. There was no use bringing everyone more down than they already were.

And when they went on their first tour to promote their album, everyone began to notice an even more severe change in Lance. He just didn’t seem to care about anything. All his life music had been his one hope, his one dream. And now that it was real, he didn’t want any part of it.

When they stayed in hotels, Lance always wanted one by himself. He had cut himself off from everyone and everything. There was nothing that could bring his spirits up. Not even when his parents or his friends visited him on tour did he bother to give a smile.

But when their first album went double platinum and the band became very popular throughout the world, Lance finally began to open up once again. But he was never the same again. Lance never went back to being that man that walked onto the Titanic in 1912.

Though Hannah’s relatives and friends back home in England were informed of her death, none of them really gave her a proper burial. Lance didn’t think he was ready to say goodbye to her by giving her a funeral. But he did it because he knew he had to say goodbye. He had to let her rest in peace.

NSYNC became one of the most successful music groups in their time. They remained a group, recording nine albums, before they separated in 1924. The group remained best friends, but went on to lead their own lives. They knew it had been time to end their music careers when the time came. The success and the madness had been a hell of a ride, but there were other things they wanted to accomplish in their lives.

Joey never married, but adopted a young girl from China whose family had been killed in a tragic boating accident. He had many girlfriends,  but as his daughter got older, he kept his personal relationships with women down to minimum, afraid his daughter might get too attached with one.

Chris married a woman five years younger than him in 1923. They had met while he was in NSYNC, and later he found out she just used him for his money. When he found this out, he divorced her right away and married a long time friend who had been his supporter after the Titanic disaster.

After the Titanic incident, Justin buried himself in his music, and wrote many songs that were included on all their albums, including a song he wrote for Lance, about losing a loved one and not being able to accept the loss. After NSYNC broke up, Justin went on to marry a girl Lisa had set him up with. Justin had been the one, other than Lance, that had the hardest time getting over the sinking. Justin and his wife later had twin girls.

Right away they got off the Carpathia, JC married Lisa and he soon after adopted Johnny, and they became a family. They went on to have two more children.

Right after the burial of Hannah, Lance went on with his music, writing songs and working on feature films. He even lent his voice to some cartoon shows. He did anything that kept him mind off of his pain. Though he was tempted several times, Lance never had any female companions. He went back to his old ways for a while, sleeping with anyone that would have him. But after realizing he was destroying the love that he had shared with Hannah, Lance stopped that and never married. He adopted two children, one boy and one girl.
