She had no nerves
this morning as she let Justin into her apartment. She had spent most of
the morning telling herself that everything would be okay that she didn't
feel anything for anyone except for Justin.
“Hey, sorry I’m late.” He joined her
inside and leaned up against the wall, facing her.
“Oh that's okay.” Elizabeth hadn't
even noticed. He always made up for being late, which she loved, but today
she just hadn't noticed. She looked at her watch and noticed it was five
after ten. “You're only five minutes late.”
“I know, but still I'm late.” Justin
gave her a soft kiss.
Apology accepted obviously, she kissed
him back.
“Now I would like to know what this
is all about.” She tried to keep a straight face but ended up grinning at
him.
“You’ll see.” He grinned and walked
back to the front door. “We better get going.”
“Wait I need to get something out of
the bedroom,” she said, trying to get out of his embrace.
He had his arms wrapped around her
waist, but not too tightly. He let her go then she went to her room and returned
a couple of seconds later putting on her sweater.
“Just in case it gets cold,” she told
him.
He took her hand in his then led her
out to his car which was waiting in the parking lot. He helped her into her
side then got in his own and drove out of the parking lot and out to the
city.
Elizabeth looked out at the view. She
had never seen such a beautiful sight. But the most special thing was that
he wanted to make up for that time when he missed their date. It was months
ago when Justin was with Meg. They were going to go sailing, but he forgot
because of Meg.
She made herself stop thinking about
her. Meg was in his past, she was his future.
She thought back to Thomas. What if
he tried to do what Meg tried to do? She wasn't able to give it another thought
cause Justin dragged her over to the boat before kissing her.
“Come on, let's go in.”
He led her down into the inside of
the boat. It was gorgeous. It was almost the size of a bedroom. He went over
and grabbed two glasses that contained some cola in and handed her one.
“You remembered,” she said, touched.
“Of course I did.” He kissed her. “I
wanted to make this up to you.”
“I don't know what to say besides thank
you.”
"Aw don't cry honey,” he said wiping
the tears from her eyes that had formed. He knew they were happy ones, but
they were tears just the same. He took her hand then led her up to the deck
of the boat.
She looked around and noticed now that
they were moving. She looked around and saw a man she didn't know, steering
the boat. “You paid someone to drive the boat for us? What if he kills us?”
He laughed. “He's a friend of mine,
trust me he won't kill us. Come on.”
He took her hand again and led her
up the ladder. From there they could see the deep water. She was glad she
brought her sweater, it was getting chilly out. She reached down to the ground
and grabbed the sweater off her bag and slipped it around her shoulders.
She caught Justin looking at her lovingly. She smiled and placed a soft kiss
on his cheek.
“I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you too.”
She had a wonderful day with Justin,
and she hadn't thought about Thomas, but that all changed when she got home.
Justin had walked her up to her door and was about to kiss her when Thomas
walked out from around the corner.
“Hey…oh sorry.” Thomas noticed Justin.
“Who are you?” Justin asked him.
“I'm…” Thomas was cut off by Elizabeth.
“He's my friend from back home. Justin
this is George.”
Justin shook hands with “George.” “Nice
to meet you,” he said.
“Yeah um nice to meet you too,” Thomas
said.
He gave Elizabeth a “Why'd you have
to go and do that?” look.
“Well I'll see you in the morning baby,
It's getting really late.” Justin kissed her one last time then left.
After he was gone, Thomas turned to
Elizabeth. “What on earth was that?! Too afraid to tell him the truth that
you still love me?”
She glanced coldly at him then slapped
him on the face, but not too hard. “Shut up. I'm not going to tell him just
yet that my ex boyfriend is back, you got that? And if you tell him, I'll
kill you.”
“Fin.…”
Before he could finish, Elizabeth had
gone inside her apartment and slammed the door in his face. She was a tough
cookie but he loved her and was determined to get her back.
******
It was Justin's last day home before
he and the guys left for Europe and he had the whole day planned for him
and Elizabeth. He arrived at her doorstep with roses in hand, just before
eight in the morning.
She hadn't been up long, but was up
when he rang her doorbell. She took the roses that he handed her then gave
him a short hug and invited him in.
“We can't stay long, I've got plans
for us,” he said, watching her place the roses in a vase.
“What plans?” She turned to look up
at him. “You never said anything to me about it.”
“I know. It’s a surprise.”
“More surprises? You don't stop, do
you?” she said smiling at him. When he shook his head, she laughed. “Okay,
then let's get going.”
“I was hoping you'd say that.” He extended
his hand to her. She didn't take it, she ran off to her bedroom leaving Justin
confused. She came back a few minutes later and opened the door. “Where'd
you disappear to?” he asked.
She locked the door then stuffed her
keys in her jacket pocket. “That's for only me to know.”
“And me to find out?”
“Um maybe,” she said with a grin.
Justin followed close behind her as
she got to the elevator.
She was so confused. A mall? Oh God,
she thought. He didn't need more clothes did he?
“What are we doing here?” she asked.
“Just follow me.” He took her hand
and led her to a part of the mall. The next thing she knew, they were in
a clothes store, but it wasn't a men's store, it was a women's store.
She looked over at him as soon as he
dragged her into the store. “What are we doing in here?”
“You need a new dress,” he informed
her.
“What? I do not need....…”
“Please just pick out a dress?” He
gave her the puppy dog face that she always gave into. “Please?”
“What do I need a dress for?” she asked,
glancing around at all the different clothes.
“The second part of my surprise,” he
said, leading her over to the dresses. “Now I'm going to go and look around
the mall for what I need.” He took out a credit card and handed it to her.
“I'll be back in an hour.”
“But I don't take an hour to pick out
a dress,” she said.
“Then just look around the mall. I've
got a few things to do.” He kissed her then fled out the door of the store.
Elizabeth turned to look through a
rack when a woman came up to her.
“Do you need help? Is there something
particular your looking for?”
Elizabeth turned around. When she realized
who it was, she hugged the woman. “I can’t believe it’s you!”
“I saw you and Justin walking into
the mall. Me and JC are kinda taking a break so I have a lot of free time,”
Anna said.
“You guys aren't breaking up, are you?”
“I hope not.” Anna sighed. “What are
you doing in here anyways? And where did that man go? He left you again.
You really need to keep him on a leash.”
“He says it's some big surprise. I'm
supposed to get a dress.” She showed Anna his credit card. “He's around the
mall somewhere doing some things.”
“I bet he's had this planned for a
while. He's really going to miss you when he’s gone.”
“What makes you so sure?” Elizabeth
said.
“He talks about you all the time. JC
said whenever it's just the two of them, you're all he can talk and think
about,” Anna said with a smile.
“How about you and JC? Why are you
guys taking a break?”
“Just till the end of the tour. We
do that just before he leaves. It only makes our love for each other stronger.”
“That must be so hard on you though.”
Elizabeth started looking at some dresses,
Anna following her. She picked up a blue one then put it back.
“You sure you don't want that one?
He loves the color blue,” Anna said.
“I want to please myself, not him.
I hate the way blue looks on me. Remember that school dance is fifth grade?
It looked absolutely horrible on me!”
Anna laughed just remembering it. “Yeah
well. How bout this one?” She picked up a light pink colored one. Elizabeth
looked at it and smiled.
“That's the one!” they both said at
the same time. They both started laughing when people around the store started
staring at them.
Elizabeth took the hanger from Anna
and headed to the counter. She already knew her size so she didn't need to
try it on.
“And it's cheap too,” Anna said looking
at the price tag. “Man, that guy is cheap.”
When they walked out of the store,
Elizabeth glanced at her watch. “I still have forty-five minutes before he
comes back, you wanna go walk around the mall?”
“Sure.” Anna picked up her bags from
the ground after she put her hair up. “Where do you want to go?”
They both started to look around at
the stores, then they saw it. Their favourite store as kids, the book store.
“Where is she?”
Justin looked in the clothing store
that he had left Elizabeth in just over an hour ago. He had just heard from
the saleslady that Elizabeth had left a while ago with another woman.
He walked into the bookstore when he
had tried all of the other stores.
As he was walking in one of the aisles,
he accidentally bumped into some girl.
Justin groaned when he realized who
he had just run into. “Damn,” he muttered. The girl looked him over and grinned
at him. He just rolled his eyes. “Following me?”
“No,” Meg said, still grinning. “But
I could.”
“Move out of my way.” Justin was getting
irritated, he did not need any interruptions from her, especially for what
he had planned for him and Elizabeth.
For the last few weeks, Meg had been
following constantly, never leaving him alone. Thankfully, Elizabeth was
never around when Meg decided to follow him everywhere.
They both turned their heads when they
heard voices screaming his name from behind them.
This is so not what he needed, fans
following him around. He had this whole day figured out, now it looked hopeless.
