Sometimes Love Just Isn't Enough

Chapter Two

Emma walked into the hotel that the guys were staying at and started to search for room B12. She continued walking down the halls and finally found it. It was at the end of the hallway on the second floor.

She stared at the door. She wasn’t sure for how long, but she had to gather her courage. She had no idea what she was going to say, or what she was going to do. What if JC didn’t open the door, but that girl was?

She knew she had to be prepared for just about anything. It was like she was frozen in place until she brought her hand up and knocked on the door.

Nothing for the first 5 knocks. Emma really started to wonder what was going on. She thought maybe Lance and Chris were just fooling her but then a young, tall brown haired woman opened the door with nothing but a robe on.

She looked down at Emma. “Can I help you?”

Emma couldn't help but wonder why JC would be interested in another woman, let alone this one. She was too young looking for JC.

You don’t know anything yet, she reminded herself. He loves you, no one else.

“I’m looking for JC,” Emma said, when she managed to find her voice.

The woman looked Emma over. She didn’t look exactly thrilled to be standing there, with this interruption from this woman looking for a JC.

“I have a Josh, not a JC,” she told Emma.

“Yeah that's right, JC, that's what we all call him, but his real name is Josh. Can I come in?” Emma tried to get a look inside the room, but the woman blocked her view. Emma didn’t manage to see anything but the end of the bed.

The woman's mouth dropped open. “I don't think so.”

        “And why not?”

The woman gave her another look then closed the door a little then opened it back up with a grin.

Emma walked inside and saw JC in bed practically naked with the covers over him. He was fast asleep, his arms wrapped around one of the many pillows that were scattered everywhere in the room.

“He's kind of tired,” the young woman said. She turned back towards Emma after eyeing a sleeping JC one more time. “I’m Sarah. I met Josh at a club tonight.”

        “Was he drunk?” Emma asked.

Sarah shook her head. “He was as sober as can be. But lonely as can be too. He was drowning in his sorrows with a glass of coke.”

Emma didn't laugh when Sarah did, it wasn't funny. Emma kept staring at JC in some other woman's bed---naked. She needed to know what happened between them. But seeing the tired look on his face, and the lack of clothing on Sarah, it was obvious what had happened.

But she asked anyway. “What happened when you brought him here?”

“You mean did we....Well yeah and the boy is good.” Sarah grinned. Emma could feel the tears falling. “Are you okay?” Sarah had no idea who this woman was, but she looked upset.

“NO!” Emma yelled as more tears fell. She looked back over at JC who was still asleep. “I can't believe he would do this to me, to us.”

“What are you talking about?” Sarah asked.

Emma glared at her. “He's my boyfriend.”

Sarah's jaw dropped. “Oh my god, I had no idea. He said he had a girlfriend but I didn't think it was you.”

“Oh, and why's that?” Emma asked wiping her eyes. “Trust me, you’re not even close to his type!”

“Oh please, you're too girly looking for a guy like Josh. He's too manly for you,” Sarah said putting her hands on her hips.

Emma just continued watching JC as the tears clouded her vision. She couldn’t believe JC would betray her like this.

“Well, you can have him,” Emma said.

JC was beginning to wake up when he heard the screaming. “What's goi.....Emma?” He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, and when he realized that he wasn’t just seeing things, he attempted to get out of bed. Then he remembered he was naked under the covers.

Emma looked over at JC with tears in her eyes. “How could you do this to me?”

Sarah moved in front of Emma. “Because your no good and Josh deserves better.”

JC was in the bathroom getting changed back into his clothes when he heard the words Sarah spoke to Emma. The moment he heard the words, he did up his jacket then took his place beside Emma.

“Don’t talk to my girlfriend like that,” he said.

“Ex girlfriend,“Emma said. She glared at JC. “I can't believe you. I come to see you and I see this? Some boyfriend you are!”

“Baby, it’s not what it looks like…”

Sarah linked her arm with JC's. “I already told her what happened.”

JC immediately stepped away from Sarah and tried to approach Emma. “Baby…” But she was already walking over to the door. “Baby, please. It was just a mistake, I swear.” He managed to grab her arm as she reached the hallway.

More tears rolled down her face. She could feel her head spinning. Right now she hated JC. She didn't know him anymore, he was a stranger.

“We are over JC. I never want to see you again.”

Emma ran down the hall to the elevator. All JC could do was stand there, watching the love of his life walk away from him.

“Shit.” He realized now that he should have ran after her. But what good would that have done?

He would just give her a little space, then he would do whatever he had to do to reach her.
