Love Happens - Chapter Six

Everyone had been dancing and having a great time but Dasia was a little tired and decided to take a break. Joey noticed her and decided to ask her for a dance. As they were walking towards the dance floor, some of the others began to go back to the table.

Chris introduced Leigh, his dance partner for the night, to Lance and Tiffany.

Justin also said hello then sat down. He was trying his best to avoid an energetic red head that had been chasing him around the place all night. He watched JC and Kristi dance. Though they had just met, they seemed so perfect together, like it was destiny.

Justin's gaze landed on Dasia and Joey. She looked so happy, he loved her smile; it was genuine and sincere.

“Why don't you ask her to dance?” Lance asked.

“Ask who?” Justin replied.

“Dasianna Water, the girl you've been staring at for the last three songs.”

“No I haven't,” he said finally removing his gaze.

“Just go ask her.”

Everyone stood to walk off before he had a chance to say anything more.

~~~
“May I umm, well I was wondering if you'd like to dance. With me that is.” He was suddenly lost for words.
“Sure, anything to get away from Joey's chicken dance.”
Joey gave a light snicker as he walked away.
A slow song began to play as if on cue. She placed her arms around his neck as he pulled her closer by putting his hand on her waist. Her heart began to beat louder and felt like it was going to explode. As they swayed to the music, she looked into his eyes trying to figure out what he was thinking.
What she didn't know was that he felt the same way.
He could feel her heart beating against him. It all seemed like it was happening in slow motion. Everyone and everything faded into the background and all he could think of is how beautiful she was.
Both of their minds were racing. It was one of those things you knew was wrong but it felt so right.
“Ahh look how cute they are,” Kristi said.
They had all gathered at the table to watch the two dancing. JC agreed they looked good together but he didn't like what Justin was doing. He was getting married in a couple of months and now you could see the uncertainty all over his face. JC chalked it up to the fact that Justin was getting married soon and just wanted to have as much fun as possible or at least he hoped.
~~~

It had gotten pretty late so everyone went back to their cabin for some sleep.

“Dasia, would you turn the TV off already? We're trying to rest over here,” Kristi whimpered, throwing a pillow in Dasia's direction.

“Sorry Kris, I'm just not tired and didn't know what else to do. I thought about reading a book but I didn't want turn the light on.”

“Then why don't you go to the lounge and read for a while?” Kristi suggested.

“Alright, I think I might do that.”

Dasia pulled her still curly hair into a ponytail. She went through her bag to find the book she brought, instead she came across her notepad. She had brought it in case she was bored and had a chance to write. She went to pick it up but chose not to, she wasn't really in the mood to write.

~~~
She was deep into her book when someone tapped her on the shoulder. It scared her so much, she fell off the couch. She looked up to see Justin.
“Geez give me a heart attack why don't you!”
“Sorry I didn't mean to scare you, I just came over to say hello,” he said helping her up.
“What are you doing down here?” She settled back down in her spot on the couch and set the book on her lap. She scooted over a bit so Justin would have a place to sit.
“I wasn't tired and JC kicked me out saying he needed his beauty sleep.”
“Beauty sleep, huh?” She laughed.
“Yeah I guess he wants to look his best tomorrow for Kristi when we go snowboarding.”
“Kristi's going snowboarding with you guys?”
“You all are. Didn't she tell you about it?”
“Nope. The most she's told me since she's met you guys is how great you all are and how dreamy JC's eyes are.”
“JC is pretty much the same way. The whole time he was telling us about tomorrow. He had this goofy grin on his face, the guy is really crazed about her.”
“It happened really fast don't you think? I mean they just met and all of a sudden they could be nominated couple of the year.”
“I know what you mean, but it's one of those things where you can know a person one day and know you love them or know a person for two years and know you don't.”
“Was that the way it was with Claire?” She didn't know where the question came from, but she wanted to know the answer.
“It was different with her. I'd known her about a year before we went out. It's kind of funny but I didn't like her at first. I guess love doesn't happen at first sight for everyone.”
“What changed your mind about going out with her?”
“Lance.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, she's the record producers daughter so she was in the studio a lot. I always figured she was stuck up and not really worth the time but Lance had become friends with her and convinced me to give it a try and it just went on from there. What about you? I haven't heard you mention any guys.”
“That would be because there are no guys.”
“Why is that?”
“I'm not sure. I take showers and brush my teeth, but some how I still scare them off. Maybe it's my karaoke.”
“No, you guys were awesome tonight. Do you guys do karaoke often?”
“Actually no. That was the second time ever, and the first time was five years ago. I was just showing off when I said we were great but I didn't expect to have to do it.”
After more conversation, they decided they should probably go to sleep.
